The NRA doesn't mind if a few kids die from time to time

in school shootings. That's the bottom line. It's just a few kids out of millions, they think. Statistically, it's really insignificant, they think. They think their right to own as many guns as they want is much more important than a few kids. That's what they think.

Really. It is.

Who in turn placate and validate the igorant ideas of gun humping mouth breathers. All the while diminishing the deaths of innocent children. Suffer the little children

For the GOP base voter who believes the NRA propaganda, it’s about the right to own a gun.

For the NRA and its leaders and its GOP cronies, its about two things: Profit for gun manufacturers and votes for the Republican billionaires. The NRA gun identity politics and immigration hatemongering is all about getting votes for GOP donors.

Political power over kids’ lives. THAT is what the NRA is about.

NRA supporters would rather have dead children than any gun control.

To the gun industry, dead children are merely collateral damage/acceptable losses for gun industry profits and political donations.

But Steven Scalise (R-La) got shot and nearly killed last year, and he's back this year grinning like a gargoyle to advance the NRA agenda. These ghouls just plain don't care; it's all about "winning" and campaign contributions. Hundreds of schoolchildren gunned down every year is insignificant to them.

AMERICA doesn't care.

How do I know?

Because kids have been dying in schools at the end of a gun for almost 100 years in America, and the only thing that's happened is a few meaningless attempts at small reforms which do nothing but convince Americans that gun control can't work. Oh and easier access to guns,

If America REALLY cared it could have done something after the last 200 school massacres... I doubt it's going to change, no matter who is in power, because the real gun deaths issue is guns. Not a specific type of guns. Not attachments or mods to guns, not anything narrowly define-able. Guns, full stop. That's the issue. And as long as everyone agrees to do nothing much about the 300m guns that already exist (more than twice as many as adults in America) nothing will change. During the last assault weapons ban we had MORE school shootings than in the 10 years BEFORE the ban. In fact only something like 2% of gun deaths are due to assault weapons... it's really almost all handguns. And guess who is working to get 100M handguns off the street, and prevent them from being sold until the US has normal gun violence rates?

No one at all.

I'm all for meaningful change, and in fact would love to see America drop the charade of the 2nd amendment completely. But it won't.

Instead, 30K dead people a year, thousands of which are children, from now until long after we're all dead.

from the technology of war and have substantial material interests that may blunt their concerns about the ethics of reducing humans to lifeless piles

There's a legal front-end, which includes documented over-the-counter sales but there's also a big wilderness of shady or black-market trafficking in stolen and smuggled weapons -- a helter-skelter world of cynical profiteers and agents of various world powers, of extremists and mafiosi and self-styled "patriots"

The front-end and the black-market blur together; and that black-market was Ollie North's world in the 80s. It's why Ollie is head of the NRA today

Two words: Ka-Ching.

Every time there's a school shooting (which, according to the numbers, is roughly every week or so now), they pop their heads up and tell all their sycophantic lapdogs to go stock up because, "they're REALLY going to take your guns NOW!!!" and it drives up their profits. Don't tell me the NRA brass doesn't do a little dance every time some whacko shoots up a school.
