2. The power of nature...amazing.

I don't think people realize that there are tiny particles of silica (glass) in the atmosphere. A man standing in line waiting for a free breathing mask was explaining that the glass shreds the lungs. I am glad to see the wind blows the smoke West and the other islands in the state aren't in the path of the smoke and all the stuff that's init.

8. How do you get to watch it without TV?

Do people send you videos or do you have pod casts? Tony Bourdain went to Hawaii with No Reservations in 2007 and visited a guy who lived on a patch of lava and eventually was evicted. The whole show was cool. He are a ton of Spam in a variety of ways and went to Puka Dog (tube like hot dogs with mango relish and stuff). If you go to Daily Motion you can watch it for free.

Do you need people (DU) to send you up to date videos of the volcano so you are able to see it and hear it?

He was outside his home Saturday in a remote, rural region of Hawaii’s Big Island when the lava ‘‘hit him on the shin, and shattered everything from there down on his leg,’’ Janet Snyder, Hawaii County mayor’s spokeswoman, told the Hawaii News Now TV station."

6. A few videos have picked up the noise of that thing.

It roars and bangs and crashes in deafening tones, I can see how the original natives thought it sounded like an angry god.

the sound with the fury.. since I haven't heard it.

I would imagine one could hear it for miles... how scary for Big Islanders.. along with everything else that goes with Pele erupting.

And, yes.. the Hawaiian natives in the earlier days actually had an angry goddess on their hands at times..

I've heard for a long time that you can have really bad luck if you take any of the lava home for a souvenir. And, later thinking back I know of one person who did that and had a terrible thing happen.

I wouldn't do it.. and I told my sister and her family about that when they went in August of last year.. while they were visiting me on Kauai.
