(36,407 posts)Laze -- a mashup of "lava" and "haze" -- is a nasty product formed when hot lava hits the ocean, sending hydrochloric acid and volcanic glass particles into the air.
And to complicate things even more, further inland, sulfur dioxide emissions (VOG) have tripled.

(60,010 posts)Found some videos that had sound of the volcano site. Roaring and hissing and clanking and banging. And a deep roat like an angry giant.
I can understand "the gods are angry" reaction to that sound.

I'm sure it's not "wrong" but it is unusual, and a bit frightening, all in all.
