Former US diplomat accuses Trump of causing 'significant damage' to EU relations

DefenseNews

BRUSSELS ―
In a speech in the European Parliament in Brussels, Anthony Gardner, formerly the U.S. ambassador to the EU, gave a withering assessment of President Donald Trump, saying he wanted to dispel the “myths” of Trump’s foreign policy.

Gardner’s fierce criticism comes in the wake of Trump’s questioning of the EU’s global significance and past dismissal of NATO as “obsolete.”

In his speech to members of the European Parliament, Gardner likened Trump to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and claimed that his foreign policy had put the U.S.-EU security relationship “at risk.”

It gets worse with every GOP president though.

Of friendships with democracies yet offering a loving hand to strong man dictatorships.

and you shouldn't either....

The US system produced Trump and will produce someone worse soon enough.

The EU and the rest of the world in fact has put up with the US' behavior for years, always hoping it would come to its senses, but... now they're starting to believe that this is the new normal.

And they're not wrong.

The lesson of Trump to MANY in America is that the safeguards do NOT work, that strongmen can break the law with impunity and still be popular... what comes after Trump is, and this is what the left has been saying will happen, is going to be WORSE than Trump.

Criminality, long a part of the US political system, has been given a greenlight, and the EU, and the world, sees this, and has little more than hope that it will be magically fixed.

By 2024, I wouldn't put it past them to nominate someone like Richard Spencer.

And the worst thing is Americans will vote for that sort of person in large numbers if given the chance.

I recommend that every nation of the EU who wishes to see a return to normal relations and a willing American partner government needs to start buying themselves some contacts and ads and making donations to Democrats around the country in time for November 2018 and then better REALLY start buying access in the 2 year campaign to replace Trump between Dec. 2018 and Nov. 2020.

I welcome the Germans, the French, the British, the Dutch, the Spaniards and the Italians and everyone else to start counteracting the Russians, Saudis and Arab Emirate donors and influence peddlers NOW and to keep giving - money, intel, dirt, videos of Trump being the disgusting pig-man we know and more.

Its a global fight now, and unless you are in love with the climate killing grotesque excuse for an administration we have now, its time to stop pulling punches and unite against common enemies. America is no longer a functioning republic, it is the very clear example of a banana republic gone mad.

Fight fire with fire.
Beat them at their own game.
Make them wish they were never born.
An eye for an eye.

Am I getting carried away?

A tooth for a tooth too!!!!

Seriously, Democrats can either get realistic and fight fire with fire or get steam-rolled into extinction, there are no points for second place...no judicial appointments, no committee chairs, no ability to set agendas, no ability to bring up a bill for a vote...

Kumbaya and the old spiritual hymns may be great for reminiscing and nostalgia, but they suck balls for vote totals and seats in legislatures at all levels.

We have gotten our teeth kicked in and I would rather go down swinging and die in the field than survive the day and live on my knees under the current trajectory.

Someone find my horse and armor....I'm ready for battle now!!! (LOL...I think I AM getting carried away now!)

The EU no longer seems the US as a trustworthy partner and ally and have said as much publicly and repeatedly.
