I hate Civil Forfeiture -- it's fascist and unConstitutional

Our Civil Asset Forfeiture Nightmare – By Brian Krassenstein & Edward Krassenstein
http://ir.net/news/politics/128264/ed-krassenstein-brian-krassenstein/

Edward Krassenstein and Brian Krassenstein were victims of civil asset forfeiture in the United States in 2016. They have decided to tell their full story for two reasons: 1) To convince our representatives in Congress that such laws, which are currently being praised and possibly expanded upon by current Attorney General Jeff Sessions, are unjust and 2) To set the record straight after the ordeal they and their families have had to go through. Here’s their story (written by both of them, told from the perspective of Brian):

----------------------
Another nightmare scenario. You've read them. This one's little different from the others except that the victims had the financial wherewithal to fight back and eventually mostly win.

for a couple of wealthy bitcoin bro ponzi schemers (or whatever their hustle is) from Fort Myers when everybody has long forgotten about the black folks from Tulia...

But now that I see that notorious Bernie Sanders strategist Nomiki Konst butted into the discussion for the sole purpose of invalidating the #Resistance and #kremlingate, I might as well start calling them my cousins from now on...

Whatever on the conspiracy stuff.

But I'll tell you this: even if these guys WERE our political enemies, the unConstitutional act of Civil Forfeiture is something you should be very concerned about. Perhaps you're not familiar with it -- it's where the cops come and seize your stuff BEFORE you're arrested, or charged with any crimes, etc. NO ONE, even scoundrels and crooks should be submitted to that. Yes, I said even scoundrels and crooks. We are supposed to have a thing here called Due Process, and Civil Forfeiture ain't it. And if scoundrels and crooks can be treated this way, so can we all. I'm fine with taking their stuff AFTER they're convicted, just not before.

From the Daily Beast article:

“According to prosecutors, the services the Krassensteins promoted on their websites duped thousands of “investors” into funding Ponzi scheme-type scams and even resulted in some downloading a virus that emptied their accounts on an anonymous online-payment platform used by the Krassensteins themselves, before it was shut down as part of a major federal money-laundering investigation.”

I guess you skipped over the part where I mentioned TULIA? Were you living in a cave back then, or what?

And if you need me to spell it out even further my point is this has been going on for a long time and Krassenstein ain't exactly some kind of pioneer here...

Now go piss off.

Second:

Don't look now but our rights -- our Constitutional rights -- aren't meted out based on merit or worth or value or EVEN INNOCENCE. As a Democrat (I presume you are, or close enough), I would think you'd know that -- and honor it too.

Therefore, all your beefs, rants, moans and groans about the victims here (or whatever it is you think I should take my time to google up) are entirely off-topic. Further, attitudes like yours, that only the wholly innocent of every damn thing are worthy enough to be protected by our Constitutional rights, helps ensure that none of us truly will be.

So very helpufl at a time when our democratic institutions and the Constituton itself are under attack like they've never been before.

They're crooks and fraudsters who've stolen a lot of money from people. I can hold two thoughts at once. CF needs to end. And screw these assholes.
