Punishing teams for an individual expressing their dismay and heartfelt beliefs is typical of privileged wealthy white people. Claims, by wealthy owners who havent a clue about patriotism and the sacrifice it may require, of players demonstrating, expressing themselves in a manner unapproved by them is absurd.
I am a Vietnam vet, it offends me that wealthy people who used every privileged advantage they could to make someone else have to risk their life so they could remain safely at home. The great shame isnt that a player is kneeling at a football game during the national anthem, the great shame is that some are seen as expendable while a select wealthy few not only get a free pass but are rewarded for evading duty to the country that provides them and their families with the riches and privilege they take for granted. The shame is in trying to silence the expendables.
Be you smelly rock star, sociopathic right wing radio host, lying Vice President or a President your dishonorable conduct has not gone unnoticed.

(7,220 posts)Apologies to the fans, but you have to admit there are a lot of downsides:
--Taking advantage of college level athletes by not paying them, not feeding them, making millions off them, and discouraging actual education in many cases
--Brain injuries that can lead to players being paralyzed, killed, psychotic & dangerous to society
--Glorifying violence, (what about the children?) (sarcasm thingy here)
--Overlooking accusations of domestic assault by star players
--Taxpayers funding arenas (even those of us who aren't fans), when owners get all the $ from ticket sales
--Drunken fighting over a goddamn game
--Government spending on military recruitment ads during games (which players are required to be present for)
--Inherent racism in denying people of color protesting racial inequality
Okay, maybe I'm piling on, but they're making it really easy to dislike this sport.
