IFs, ANDs & BUTTs

We’ve been bombarded in the past few days with Republicans yelling that IF the Trump campaign was spied on, and IF people were paid to do so, and IF there was more than one spy, and IF this was the workings of a “deep state” conspiracy, and IF Obama had initiated this conspiracy, and IF Hillary Clinton was seen wearing white shoes after Labor Day at the time, it would be the worst political scandal to ever happen.

I have to agree. IF any of those things had actually happened, it would be truly mind-boggling.

But as we all know, nothing of the sort ever occurred – except in the deranged mind of a cornered rat who thinks that “some people are saying” and “it’s been reported” are unimpeachable sources – even if those people have yet to be named, and those reports cannot be identified.

We have also heard from the GOP spokes-whores that while they agree there is no evidence to support such allegations, investigations need to be conducted – in order to find out if such evidence exists. Now, there’s some sound thinking there: let’s just assume something that has no evidence to back it up is true, and go from there.

Well, instead of coming up with totally baseless IFs to run with, perhaps the Republicans should focus their attention on the things we KNOW, rather than the pulled-out-of-their-asses IFs they are desperately clinging to in hopes of protecting the traitor they installed in the White House.

And the no-IFs-about-it evidence is pretty overwhelming: over 70 known contacts between the Trump campaign and Putin-connected Russians, persistent lies about those contacts, Trump personally revealing classified information to the Russians in a behind-closed-doors meeting in the Oval Office, the attempt to establish “back-door channels” to Russia, the refusal to act on the sanctions congressionally imposed against Russia, policies that further Putin’s most fervent desires – a list far too long to be repeated here.

When the last thing you have in your arsenal is to call for an investigation into IFs because the already-known FACTS are tightening the noose around your “pResident’s” neck, it’s time to admit defeat. Your “pResident” is going down, and trying to divert the public’s attention by yelling “what IF” is like clinging to a soggy, water-logged donut while claiming it’s a life preserver.

To put it bluntly, the whole IF thing literally stinks of flop-sweat, fear, and desperation. What has yet to be realized by those promoting the IF agenda is the obvious: by attempting to distract the populace away from their “pResident’s” behaviour, they are condoning it. By postulating ridiculous, baseless claims, they are complicit in betraying their countrymen by way of deceit. By trying to cover-up their “president’s” treason, they are aiding and abetting it.

And in the doing, BUTTS have been exposed – because we now know who they are. And we won’t forget.
