Parent of Texas shooting victim sues parents

of the shooter for not keeping the gun safe. Other parents are suing gun manufactures now too.

SANTA FE, Texas— The Family of Santa Fe school shooting victim Christopher Jake Stone has filed a lawsuit against the parents of shooter Dimitrios Pagourtzis.

The lawsuit claims the parents did not safely secure their guns and are therefore responsible for gross negligence. They are also suing the parents for the wrongful death of their son.

Best of Luck & this has to be addressed in a court of law.

Kudos to her parents.
I wish them the best, considering the tragedy they live with forever.

I seem to think the the gun manufacturers are safe from similar suits, because if you use a gun to shoot (and perhaps kill) someone, you're simply doing exactly what the gun is intended for.

Get individuals involved having to protect the insanity of our gun culture.

Seattle is working on a city ordinance regarding safe storage of firearms. They also recently reported on the effectiveness of a new law passed last year re: disarming people who are a danger to themselves and others. It's a small step, and apparently they've only seized a few weapons so far, but it's a start.

Extreme Risk’: Seattle police have seized 43 guns from people deemed to be a danger under year-old law

Under a law approved by voters in 2016, police and family members can ask a judge to keep firearms out of the hands of people they believe to pose a danger to themselves or others even if there is no criminal behavior.
