General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs this conspiracy as complex as we think it is?
Is it a well-thought out plan to put Donald Trump in the Presidency of the United States?
How do we know that the election was not fixed in Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and Pennsylvania?
Somewhere in the process, when criminal acts are planned, there is a weak link. The criminal nature invites weakness.
It seems like a conspiracy but are criminals really that smart? Could it be that there is a network of billionaires and Mafia figures that are only looking for opportunities to launder their money, to buy real estate, to make political donations, and to live a life of luxury?
Do we give them too much credit? Is this really a complex conspiracy? Or is it a simple crime operation taking advantage of the naivete of the American people?
If it really is as complex as it seems, will we ever get to the bottom of it? Has the rule of law been laid to waste? Or will America rise to the challenge?

(44,987 posts)It's not really a plan but more of a method... to get rich and not get caught. It looks totally confusing if you look at like singular criminal events. It's more of a rolling conspiracy. And no, they aren't very smart but their greed's voracious and survival skills, tenacious. It's gonna be quite a fight.

(14,899 posts)a well thought out and planned conspiracy.
Trump and high level Repubs are corrupt, greedy, immoral, etc. but they're mostly operating on short term horizon with overlapping/parallel goals.
Not unlike a lot of the Russian hacking/intel ops. It isn't so much that they have a grand strategy, it's more like they have a lot of people flailing around and throwing spaghetti at the wall, once some stuff sticks they figure out how to try to use it -- but that doesn't mean they had it all planned out from the start
It doesn't make it any less criminal on their part, or any less dangerous to us, but it looks more coherent in hindsight because we're only looking at the collection of their "successes."

(50,911 posts)The idea that they hacked into the machines in those particular states and did nothing while they were in there is absurd.
And as for the corruption, it seems like it has been years, decades in the making and the idiot republican president's election was just a byproduct of it. A crime of convenience that presented itself to this klepto-mob and they jumped at it.

(111,052 posts)At first, we did not know the degree to how corrupt they were. Now, it seems very possible.
