What happens if Kim Jong Un wins Nobel Peace Prize but Donald Trump does not??

The news today is that Kim Jong Un and the South Korean leader are meeting to discuss their summit.

Donald Trump withdrew himself from the discussion a couple of days ago. It now appears that the two Korean leaders are moving on their own, with or without Donald Trump.

Donald Trump may have taken himself out of the running for the coveted Peace Prize?

There is no reason at all to consider Kim for a Nobel Prize. The South Korean President yes, but Kim has been a murderous despot and continues to destabilize the region for his own gain. Trump is just riding the effects of the collapse of Kim's nuclear facility and the hard work that the South Koreans have put in. He has no business even being considered for the prize.

When President Obama received the prize, as much as I respect his humanity and efforts to make a better world, I thought, "What has he really done to advance peace, especially so early in his term." It wasn't like Carter brokering the Camp David Accords, but as some people have said, President Obama may have earned that distinction retroactively as he worked throughout his presidency to scale back proliferation of nuclear weapons and other acts and policies. Trump has done NOTHING but agitate and destabilize the world.

Any consideration of either man for the award would be a disgrace, no matter what unfolds in this situation.

I would hope so, but who knows. The world is getting crazier by the minute.

That said, it would change 45 to a whole new color if Kim Jong Un was awarded something like that.

Yassir Arafat was a known terrorist.

Did both win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Adolph Hitler was nominated for Prize but did not win.

But I would agree that neither is honestly working toward world peace. They have more personal goals in mind, in my opinion.

Like that guy who gave him his Purple Heart (and 45 proceeded to say how he had always wanted one. ).

Who has been doing most of the diplomatic work with north Korea. Trump has being interjecting and trying to take credit for
things he did not do, typical of him.

Any reconciliation will NOT be a compromise.

It's part of his power trip.

A key qualification for the Nobel Peace Prize is do something to promote peace.

Kim is a murderer.

Trump's qualifications:

Pulled out of Korea summit
Pulled out of Iran deal
Incited riots by moving American embassy to Jerusalem.
Separates children from parents at border and throws them in camps.

If Trump was given this award with that record the Nobel will become a joke. If he got it and I was Obama I would send mine back to the Nobel committee.

in 2000, to then SK president Kim Dae-jung, who similarly had attempted to achieve rapprochement with NK and the prior dictator Kim II. 18 years later... (They also called him a 'leading defender of universal human rights against attempts to limit the relevance of those rights in Asia'. The human rights of NK's serfs has not come up this time around, AFAIK) They did not include Kim II in the prize that year because he was actively a murderous god-dictator, although they briefly mentioned NK's efforts in the press release. His son Kim 3 is a chip off the old block.

BTW, relative to Trump, while they've given out several prizes for leaders who helped bring a resolution to a longstanding conflict, they have never included the 'honest broker' in those prizes. (Carter was awarded one, but that came years after the Camp David Agreement.)

I think that they'll stay away from East Asia this year, between the Trump fiasco and the strange matter of Aung San Suu. My long shot guess is Pope Francis, for his outspokenness on the treatment of refugees/immigrants, stewardship of the plant/global warming and his opposition to weapons of war.
