2 week period, over 600 kids separated from parents - saw live on MSNBC but over now.

This happened recently - this year. Over 600 in 2 weeks. In one 2 week period - over 600 kids removed from their parents.

Michelle Brane - with the Women's Refugee Commission.

Michelle Brané is one of the nation’s foremost experts on U.S. immigration detention and reform. As the Director of the Migrant Rights and Justice program at the Women’s Refugee Commission, she advocates for the critical protection needs of immigrant women, children and other vulnerable migrant populations in the United States.

Ms. Brane said this is directly tied to Trump/Sessions policy and actions.

Trump has no soul and this is the sickest and cruelest thing he has done so far...

I am so angry and appalled about this and this needs to be stopped immediately

Those poor children are being traumatized and will be for life and we are all complicit if we don’t stop this...

in a cruel system pushed and rushed - especially under an administration that hates regulations of any sort. Absolutely no accountability.

There is no excuse for not knowing exactly where those children are right now.

They released them to someone - they should know exactly who they released them to and all the info on the home/family location.

And if the child isn't where the child is supposed to be, then investigate - don't just say we don't know.

It feels as if we're being told - oh well, shit happens and that it's a low number, so it's not that bad.

One child missing is too many.

yet to be proven if they are being sold into sex slavery or to potential adopters here in the US (either is possible in the child trade depending on the age of the child).

If true, I hope these assholes like Miller who are behind this cruel police rot in hell for all eternity. And I don't believe in hell.

Where do they go, licensed foster homes? Not likely. We don't have enough of those for our own children, you know the white citizens who abuse and neglect their own children. we have a drastic lack of good foster homes for abused and endangered children let alone taking them away from loving caring parents who are just trying to make them safer.

The government placed those kids somewhere - so where are they?

Though, honestly, you can't trust Trump to ever do the right thing and being found, if they are OK, could make their lives worse.

It's a horrible situation.

Transcript: White House Chief Of Staff John Kelly's Interview With NPR

May 11, 201811:36 AM ET

Family separation stands as a pretty tough deterrent.
It could be a tough deterrent — would be a tough deterrent. A much faster turnaround on asylum seekers.

Even though people say that's cruel and heartless to take a mother away from her children?

I wouldn't put it quite that way. The children will be taken care of — put into foster care or whatever. But the big point is they elected to come illegally into the United States and this is a technique that no one hopes will be used extensively or for very long.

Edit to add

Kelly also spoke about initiating this last year, then backed off after pressure and assured Democrats in Congress that they would not do this.

Kelly says DHS won't separate families at the border

https://www.cnn.com/2017/03/29/politics/border-families-separation-kelly/index.html

Washington (CNN)US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly on Wednesday assured Senate Democrats he doesn't intend to separate mothers and children at the border -- apparently walking back an earlier statement he made that such a policy could deter people from entering the country illegally.

I don't care how small the number is comparatively - there are missing children. And they are missing because of the actions/inactions of our government/government agencies.

Sadly - I said earlier - we can't trust Trump/Sessions to be decent, to be helpful.

So more children go missing and they simply won't do anything about it. Well, if they did, it would certainly be the cruelest option.

A couple got deported at separate times - first the mother and then the father - and the US couldn't/wouldn't tell them where their child was located..the father was told that his child was "Somewhere in Texas".

Notice the happy, almost giddy grin he has. He's trying hard not to show it, but he is really loving doing this. The most blatant picture I have seen of him announcing this was in Scottsdale AZ, giving two thumbs up and actually laughing! I can only find the Scottsdale speech in RW news that wants me to unblock my app so they can track my movements so I won't link that here.

This is the policy of cruelty. This is what the GOP is all about.

as a matter of policy - rather than not caring to do one's job - is completely different.

I'm pretty sure it has never been our policy to place children with human traffickers - but the present policy as outlined by Sessions and company would increase the likelihood astronomically as a deliberative process initiated from the very top!

It will be much "more than a dozen" if this continues.

That these problems have been a reality for over half a decade, makes it a non-partisan issue; but no less an issue.

To suddenly discover the problem because the Reprobate-in-Chief openly embraces the policy smacks of hypocrisy (and, in fact, reduces the probability to effect meaningful change by reducing it to a partisan issue).

PS: And no, the same policy and the same outcomes are not “completely different.”

That, somehow, all the ugly in America can't coalesce under some slogan/cause or person and commit gross abuses and atrocities.

Never mind our government committed torture/war crimes in the name of Bush for the cause/slogan of the "war on terror" in the interest of "national security".

But I'm sure I digress and the two - hatred/abuse of immigrants and torturing brown people have nothing in common.
