Josh Marshall goes there! The FBI mystery

For months - since 2016, so over a year - Josh Marshall at TPM has been hinting about why Trump was never chased by the FBI. Before 2015, dating back to the mid-80s, it’s been widely known that Trump was in bed with organized crime. He took his first trip to Russia in the mid-80s.


The longstanding question is WHY Trump was never prosecuted for these obvious crimes. MAYBE it was because the FBI was too busy, and distracted by 9/11. But one of Trump’s Russia links was an FBI informant.

So it has been widely rumored that Trump had a Whitey Bulger-type situation with the FBI. Trump was an informant and the FBI protected him and ignored his crimes. That would implicate the FBI NY office in crimes. Bulger’s FBI handler, Connolly, went to jail.

Marshall has been hinting that this is the case - that the NY FBI protected Trump and knew about at least some of his crimes.

And today on Twitter Marshall went there. He finally stated this explicitly:

When you lie a lot, weird things can happen. Prez Trump has been railing about an FBI informant who he calls a “spy”. So what’s DJT’s relationship to the FBI? Not this year or last year but over decades? What if he was also an informant? If he had been, what did he get a pass on?

So what’s the story? Was the NY FBI really in tight with the Trump Crime Family? The next few months should tell us.

buffoonery has always been so public and so unpredictable that the FBI would have to have been insane to trust him this way.
