Are we seeing Free Range Swatting?
Initially I thought that the barbecue disrupter was just a garden variety racist that just couldn't abide folks being black in public and didn't want to personally confront the family.
Now, after reflection, I’m starting to wonder if some of these concerned citizens aren't hoping to see something terrible happen to their targets. Don’t think that is too far fetched given how often the police have acted in haste to kids with toy guns, a guy in his granny's back yard, and all manner of unarmed black men and their families being harassed, beaten, or killed.
Maybe they are just so craven in their bigotry that the chances of physical injury to others doesn't even register, but just maybe they are hoping to see bloodshed and they’ll be front row with phone cameras at the ready.
Please tell me I’m too cynical, I pray that it’s just Trump fatigue.
