1. That's a thing of beauty and should become the new stylebook for all news media.

The Fourth Estate has a duty to report the truth, not just reprint press releases. In today's Trump world that requires a bit more effort to help educate the largely uninformed average news consumer to distinguish fiction from facts.

As an editorial matter, I'd prefer the Times led off its coverage of the latest Trump campaign rally with these corrections to the record, rather than having it in a separate section for "Fact Check of the Day." See if you can spot the difference in two potential ledes:

"Today, President Donald Trump announced an ambitious plan to harvest green cheese from the moon."

"Based on a screwball belief that the moon is made of green cheese, President Donald Trump announced a new administration initiative for a moon landing to harvest the non-existent cheese."

6. Also actually call them LIES, instead of using terms like "debunked claims" or "implausible"...

I mean, at least the Times is challenging the lies, but the response it still too tepid as a counter to his constant and aggressive lying.

Pinocchio had of being able to keep you warm on a cold winter night if you happened to be trapped in a cabin in the middle of nowhere without any firewood handy.

Here, we know the score. There are lies piling up daily. Up is down, down is up. Nothing is real in TrumpLand.

Minute-by-minute fact-checking

"The president briefly mentioned Blackburn four times. The rest of the speech, he lied, told elaborate stories that very much appeared to be fabrications, lobbed insults at Democrats, talked about the street gang MS-13, boasted of his own successes, and made a few vague promises."
