The auditorium normally holds 9,900, but preparations for Trump's appearance may have reduced the capacity to 7,500 to 8,000. At best there were still 2,000 empty seats.

I mean, look at the picture. Even if there are some people standing outside the frame and seated in the stands directly in front of Trump, it's still not even remotely close to 5,500.
