On Tuesday, Matthew Martin, of Hineston, Louisiana, reportedly posted a video online about his chance encounter with Sherell Lewis Jr. on the side of a highway. Under the video, Martin discussed the incident using the laughing emojis to illustrate his feelings about the fatal attack.

In one message, a red vehicle can be seen with the caption “y’all i just hit a whole guy on the highway,” with three laughing sob emojis.

When asked what Martin hit, he responded:

My husband knew Lewis . We've been talking about this a lot today.

He saw Sherell the day before he was killed.

Lewis cut a lot of military and ex-military hair.

Lewis was clearing debris on the road to keep others from hitting it. He was doing this because he was that kind of person - helpful and thinking of others.

He was well known in the community because of his profession and his charity work with young people.

What I wanted to add: There is a lot of outrage here but most of us think nothing will be done about it.

This is the guy who ran over a black man and laughed that he killed "some nigger." Matthew Martin, 18, from Louisiana struck Sherell Lewis on the highway in Vernon Parish. Lewis had stopped his car on the shoulder to move debris out the way when he was hit by Martin's truck. Lewis was 31 when he died.

Screenshots of a Snapchat conversation are circulating online, which appear to show Martin laughing about the incident. A friend says: "it'll buff out," referring to Martin's dented Chevy and then asks: "The guy die on impact or what." Martin responds: "yes sir 😂 no he died otw to the hospital."
