Criticizing Clinton for not apologizing to Lewinsky is divisive, so it shouldn't be brought up on DU

I mean, this topic clearly is causing lots of disagreement and people are lining up on different sides of the issue, so doesn't that make it divisive? And if we're not going to allow discussions of certain topics because they're "divisive," we should at least be consistent.

Now, here's a really cute giraffe video we can all watch together:

A Google search for "house training a monkey" (search with quotes) returns two results. Two. Which is two more than a Google search (again, with quotes) for "house training a giraffe."

Be that as it may, I'd rather have a giraffe in my house than a monkey, house trained or not, as long as there's a raised ceiling. Monkeys are known to sling poo, whereas giraffes can't sling for shit.

I don't think anybody wants an elephant in the room, whether they should talk about it or not.

When everyone in the office knows the boss is having sex with a co-worker, that's a problem. A good female friend was in that situation with an immediate supervisor who was having sexual relations with two of her co-workers, all consensual, but created tension and anxiety among those who refused to engage in such behavior and were not given what was perceived to be preferential treatment.

And, not to be flip, but what you describe is the opposite of what happened. Clinton went out of his way to keep the relationship secret and did everything he could to make sure no one knew about his or Monica’s behavior. That’s what got him in trouble.

My comment was directed to your statement characterizing the relationship merely as an "affair."

What I will say is Monica was telling people about the sexual goings on in the office of the President, his secretary knew what was going on, no doubt the rumor mill was flying... so, Bill's desire to keep his sexploits of a young intern a secret is irrelevant and does little to ameliorate the negative work environment he created.

Divisive, the right to an abortion was divisive, the right to vote for all was divisive, the end of torture was divisive, change always is. We can certainly talk about Bill all we want, along with others that caucus with us without having to respond to the divisive charge because we know in the end its a junk argument. Its someone saying they don't like it. It offends them and hurts what they think the party should be.

I was in that situation long ago... and I would be FURIOUS, frankly, if my stupidhead man made a big deal about having to "apologize" to the woman. I would assume they were getting it on again.

And there goes the marriage. And she'd then be stuck with him, so maybe that was what they would both deserve. <G>

But really, it would be great if Bill Clinton would shut up just for a while.
