The depressingly sad reality behind Trump claiming that Kim "loves his people."

Of course he doesn't care about all the long documented human rights abuses of the Kim regime.

And when he says he "loves his people", it's not just shallow flattery. What he's actually saying is that Kim is obsessed about showing strength for the nation which he rules over. And in Trump's utterly fucked up mind, that's what passes for "loving your people." And I believe he's genuinely impressed by that desire to constantly show strength.

But we have to understand that this isn't just a case of Trump praising Kim Jong Un for the sake of positive reinforcement to encourage him to denuclearize. And we have to understand how truly sick and disturbed an individual Trump truly is.

We're talking about a guy whose first comment upon returning to the United States was to call members of the media "our country's biggest enemy."

We're talking about a guy who has mocked and intentionally neglected the suffering of millions and the death of thousands of his own citizens in Puerto Rico.

We're talking about a guy who apparently has now sought the construction of tent camps to hold children forcibly separated from their parents at the border. Let's call it exactly what it is--it's concentration camps for kids. The mere thought that the United States in 2018 is even contemplating constructing concentration camps for children is mindboggling horrific, bordering on the darkly farcical if it wasn't actually true.

This is how Trump sees the world, though. This is how he shows that he himself "loves his people."
