Was anyone on DU a regular watcher of "The Apprentice?"

My SEARING hatred of Trump goes waaaay back. I could not understand what audience was watching that awful show. He was a bloviating asshole back then. So pompous. What a poseur! I couldn't stand that show then because of HIM, long before he started to run for president. Even when I was a teenager and watched that ridiculous "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" in the 80s I knew he was a prick who was trying too hard to prove he was better than everyone else. Credit my parents for raising a kid who could spot BS a mile away.

Please tell me there are others out there who turned the channel whenever he came on television (p.s. I still do!).

My grandparents would subscribe to the National Enquirer and when we visited them and just to kill time, we would read them. Trump was always in them, and yet the stories were almost always positive.

And it was quite clear how Trump was essentially pimping out the pre-teen Ivanka to the National Enquirer as a sex symbol and even back then it rubbed me the wrong way.

I long for the days when he was easy enough to avoid by simply not watching The Apprentice. The commercials for the show were bad enough for me to not waste any time on his show. Once he started campaigning and told us all who he really is I thought he had no chance. But then all these Trump signs starting popping up everywhere. I read that less than 27% of all eligible voters actually voted for Trump. If that's true then I have hope that if we can GOTV we can get rid of him in 2020.

for having the poor judgement to set this phony loser up as some kind of God-like autocrat who belongs in a judgement seat deciding "winners" and "losers." And keeping him on the air for 14 seasons!

Never had the slightest interest in watching it.

The premise was interesting but I despised Trump.

However, my aunt was always a huge fan of that show and mentioned it all the time. She was a Democrat who twice voted for Obama. Once Trump entered the race she switched to Republican and now is totally mesmerized by him.

I don't think we should underestimate the significance of that program to his election in 2016 and also in maintaining his base.

Then there is this- I think "reality" shows are a travesty. They came of age during a writers' strike. Well I like to know what scabs write the scripts for this poor excuse for entertainment. They are so obviously false. Just my not so humble opinion.

I grew up just north of NYC, and went back in 1984 after I got out of the Air Force. Hated the man and everything he stood for then, and my opinion has not changed any for the better over the years. Everyone knew he was a fraud and blowhard, but his destruction of the Art Deco friezes on the Bonwit Teller building so he didn't have to delay demolition by a couple of weeks when he built his ostentatious Tower to conspicuous consumption and outlandish opulence made pretty much every New Yorker really develop a deep and abiding hatred of the bloviating jerk.

Never had any desire whatsoever to watch anything he appeared on, and have never watched a single show that he was on. I *might* make an exception to this long-standing rule and watch his impeachment hearings, though.

to the artificial crises, they are video sausage, cranked out on the cheap and without any concern for quality content. They are an utter waste of time, and if you have any brain cells left after ingesting this poison, you'll find yourself in a mild depression over the fact that millions of Americans maintain a steady diet of this video sewage.
