Ronald Reagan signed an act of Congress in 1984 which gave amnesty to certain illegal immigrants if they complied with a list of conditions.

Creative avoidance perhaps.....

It'd take longer, but it would mean ANYONE could show up, start working and paying taxes, and contribute.
Rush apparently thinks in a decade they will forgot who it was who fucked them out of VOTING for a better America. I dont lol.

The GOP will have completely privatized our government and voided the Constitution. They're power hungry monsters who are motivated by greed and hate.

Just like trump saying "unfortunately elections are coming up" . They are enemies of our democracy.

In ten MONTHS time, it's possible the heads of their party will either be removed from the majority or headed to prison.
Peeps are going to remember this misadministration for a LONG time (and not fondly, I suspect)
November is coming.

11. On towering stacks of doomed falsehoods? Good luck with that, GOP.

I'm hearing, seeing this meme everywhere in the RW ranks: "We must defeat (and silence) liberalism"
Facepalmworthy. Not a realistic goal in the long run, attempting to pull more citizens into their:
anti-scientific fact
misguided blame frame
ignorant racism
sympathy for those poor, poor, downtrodden 0.1 percenters.
Wow, what a stack of cards destined for eventual failure.
We must keep reminding ourselves "This is NOT normal", and eventually, everything comes out in the wash.
Climate change will give the idiots, no matter how loud their mouthpieces, the smackdown in disasterous proportions. That will be the beginning of the end of the RW POV dominance over the falsehood-spewing media outlets. Denying science standing in the middle of disasterous flood, storms and dust-bowl droughts stricken areas? It's coming.
Pointless blame duh other guy? duh women? duh (fill in the blank here)? Dividing families and just creating rifts between those who eventually come to realize:
That racist blame throwing, continually supporting the rich to get richer eventually leads to perpetual debt cycles of the working class, and revolt.
Surely the light will eventually come on with those who aren't heading soon for the great beyond, and I'm seeing it every day how a stack of 2000 lies is getting more difficult almost daily for the RW pundits to build their delusions onto.
I'm not willing to wait that long, and I've made it very clear to the RW nutjobs in my family that "they" are standing more and more alone in this deluded state of confabulation.
A few of them are coming around. The GOP has married this stack of bullshit, despite half hearted attempts on the parts of some of them to divorce themselves from this disaster, they're still supporting inevitably disaster producing bullshit.

in motion that are beyond human effort that will guide us to sanity as a species. But, of course, we must help...it will not just happen.

It is encouraging to see die-hard Republicans leaving the party that has become insane, immoral and black-hearted with evil.

One way or another we will achieve some equilibrium.

and Miami, and Long Island and Houston and San Diego and Boston and Portland and New Orleans are inundated with salt water. And the coastal populations in the great flood plains of India and Bengladesh, Vietnam, and Rio start migrating around the world. And the the Colorado river dries up, will that be enough to get their attention?

The Gang of Eight bill's pathway to citizenship for example, would've taken 15 years+ to citizenship I believe. So his stance is way more generous than most proposals.

While conveniently forgetting the edict stated by a famous philosopher widely considered spiritually powerful: "What you do to the least of my brethren you do to me".
I'll have to get some of the troglodytes to remind me who it was said that...

the bill that John Boehner refused to bring to the House floor, would have taken 13 years for citizenship.

This has been the Republican's fear for a long time.

21 million foreign-born Americans are citizens who can vote in all elections.

Another 22 million hold green cards and can vote in local and state elections if allowed, but not federal.

I know if I were foreign born and a naturalized citizen, I'd be looking at this shit with absolute fury. And I would definitely be voting.

Hell, I'm fourth gen American and I am ALSO looking at this shit with absolute fury. And I will definitely be voting!

20. Yep, it's vote suppression.
Sun Jun 24, 2018, 04:23 PM

The best way to stop it is to simply vote every Republican out of every office in every election. Once Republicans can't use dirty tricks like gerrymandering, voter role purges, voter ID scams, and, yes, manipulating legal immigration, we'll start to get to a better, more democratic America again. Republicans won't compete for votes by earning them until they've run out of ways to block opponents' voting rights or obtain votes by fraud (Russian assisted or merely lying all the time).
