Here's our valid argument for a SCOTUS nomination freeze.

The Senate is an equal branch of govt to the presidency.
The current 51-49 split means that, in only 4 months, control could change.
Just as McConnell argued in 2016 not to vette candidates in an election year, the same is true now.
Let the voters decide.

Dems should say this and only this.... over and over and over.......

1. Yes, I mean that will definitely work....

...I mean if we say this, then McConnell will look like a hypocrite and be shamed into doing the right thing.

That should definitely work.

2. What else can we do

It at least shows that we are fighting and might increase Dem turnout in November.
Rolling over sure wonít.

5. Yeah, sure....

....would have been nice to have some fighting spirit along the way the past 10-15 years instead of playing it safe and keeping our powder dry and worrying about civility and all of that.

Maybe we should have been more aggressive in the unprecedented obstructionism and historical travesty of not giving Garland an up or down vote.

But yeah, sure nows a good time too. A bit like closing the barn door after the horses have escaped but you're right what else are we going to do now.

4. Say it anyway. Hammer it anyway.

Yes, he'll ignore it. Do it anyway. Try everything that can create a wedge between the cultists and the Republican voters that still pretend they have an ounce of integrity. Is this one? Fat chance, but what does it cost to try?

Do what they did in the 70s: find where the fissures are and drive them apart.

6. Yeah, sure.... I'm not saying don't try now....

...I'm just saying it would have been nice to maybe have been a bit more aggressive and loud and frequent in pointing out Republican hypocrisy for the past 10-15, maybe more years instead of playing nice and trying to reach across the aisle and worrying about keeping our powder dry.

But yea....nows a good time too.

9. Yep. It's was clear more than 20 years ago that keeping powder dry...

...just created stockpiles that blew up in our faces.

But that view didn't prevail, so now we're where we are and have to decide how to proceed.

3. Doesn't have a prayer of working. Democrats have to do one of two things: keep all of their

Senators in line (Manchin would suck Trump's toes so not a guarantee) plus get 2 Republicans to go along with them, or find a procedural move that can be used to delay the vote practically forever. It's as close to a lost cause as can be since Democrats, traditionally, have not been willing to go to the lengths Republicans do to get their way. Chuck Schumer's statement this afternoon was a reminder of that.

7. "Democrats, traditionally have not been willing to go to the lengths Republicans do..."

Man that is the understatement of the century. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Schumer's statement was another in a long line of milquetoast, weak, whiny responses to treasonous levels of bullshit.

11. So would Heitkamp. She can't be counted on, either.

Nor can our Dems. Pelosi's already taken impeachment off the table once before - when we had torturer war criminals in the White House. Oh but we have to stay CIVIL! WE have to go HIGH when they go low.

Schumer seems more interested in getting along and going along. Has he EVER gotten in the bad guys' faces? I'd say no but I haven't kept close track of him and his behavior. All I know is what I don't see - any fire 'n' brimstone. About ANYTHING.

Oh GOD what a shitty day.

You know. Something with no spine.

He will bring us a fascist fifth judge.
But, make him have to defend it non stop.
Point out his hypocrisy every time his face is shown.

10. They should also say that the legitmacy of Trump's presidency is under a serious cloud and

no action should be taken to consent to another appointment until that is resolved.

14. Make McConnell defend his hypocrisy every day.

On the Senate floor
On the House floor
In front of his DC Office
In front of his Kentucky office....

Why is this election different?
You said in 2016 that the people should decide in an election year.
This is an election year. Congress is an equal branch of government.
Thereís only four months until the Senate majority is decided.
Why wonít you wait?
Whatís different now than two years ago?

Pound this hypocrisy in every tv and radio and online and social media outlet.
Pound it like the Repubs do with any issue.
Say it over and over every day.
This will energize the Dem base and make the Independents see his hypocrisy.
