Running interference for Trump on Russia may cost Devin Nunes his seat.

And now Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), who easily won re-election by 35 points in 2016, is down to just an eight-point lead over his Democratic challenger, Andrew Janz.
In a new Public Policy Polling survey, paid for by Democratic political action committee End Citizens United, 49 percent of voters support Nunes, compared to 41 percent who support Janz.
Typically, an eight-point advantage is a comfortable margin. But compared to 2016, this means Nunes level of support has already plummeted by an astonishing 27 points in less than two years.
And given the massive scale of the campaign his challenger is running, Nunes support could easily drop even further in the more than four months between now and November.
Janz, a violent crimes prosecutor, has raised about four times more cash than all of Nunes previous Democratic challengers between 2002 and 2016 put together, according to the Fresno Bee.
Those seven previous challenges only raised $650,000 between them but Janzs campaign war chest is an amazing $2.5 million. That might be the most of any House challenger in the country this election cycle
Maybe This Helped Somewhat too

(51,565 posts)by the tariffs, they may end up not voting GOP! I hope the tariffs and financial hardships sway them. 6 months ago they wouldn't even talk to a CNN reporter walking around his district with Janz since they actually said, word for word, "You are fake news". They also said that they do not give a shit about Russia at all, all they cared about was water (a commodity in drought stricken CA) and immigrants (for cheap labor).

(51,565 posts)I read two things that have to do with water. One was about crappy water to drink, not to water crops. The other was about the almond crop, which is a big deal in the state and tariffs could hurt the almond farmers. I recall reading that it takes over 1 1/2 gallons of water to make one almond and thought the water issue was about the lack of rain and not due to crappy water for people to drink.

It would mean more to me but I'm not from there.
I do know however that water is a serious issue for CA.
A lot of states actually.
Its a commodity we cannot afford to destroy by human negligence.

In 2007, Andrew was appointed by the Chancellor to a statewide strategic planning commission tasked with mapping the future of higher education in California. He was also selected to attend the prestigious Panetta Institute for Public Policy founded by former CIA Director Leon Panetta.
In 2008, he helped coordinate a statewide voter registration campaign with the California State Student Association where nearly 20,000 new students were registered to vote. The Student Association received the National Secretaries of State Medallion Award for their 2008 voter registration efforts.
After leaving CSU Stanislaus, Andrew attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles where he earned his law degree. While there, he was selected to be a member of Law Review and elected by his peers to be the President of the Student Bar Association.
Outside of the classroom Andrew was a research assistant to Justice Earl Johnson, Jr. who was instrumental in the creation of the Legal Services Program under President Lyndon Johnsons War on Poverty.
