"Jim, can you believe this dude?" Jordan would say something like: "If he touches me, I'll kill him"

Asked DiSabato how he can be so sure Jim Jordan knew. He said Jordan was in many conversations where the implication was clear. DiSabato would say, "Jim, can you believe this dude?” Jordan would say something like: "If he ever touches me, I'll kill him.”

Years ago, DiSabato said he simply didn't have the vocabulary to precisely describe what he now understands to be sexual assault. But seeing the gymnasts at Michigan State University come out against team doctor Larry Nassar was clarifying.

"It was almost as though he taught Larry Nasser what he did," he said. "Doc Strauss was more prolific."

Pressed on how he could be so certain that Jordan knew about the abuse at the time, DiSabato said there were many conversations in which he acknowledged Strauss' alleged actions.

"It just sounded like, 'Jim, can you believe this dude? He's out of his mind,'" DiSabato said, adding that Jordan's response would be along the lines of: "If he ever touches me, I'll kill him."

... when a young athlete said can you believe this - in regards to the doctor sexually assaulting the other athletes. It was blatant, it was on going, it was pervasive - these young men were depending on someone of authority to address the issue and bring it to a halt.

Jordan's response was a typical Rethug response.

Me - me - me. Mine, mine, mine.
I really don't care about or think of anyone else but myself - because he was then too selfish - lacked care - lacking of compassion to properly address the issue although it was his responsibility and obligation to those athletes.

Jordan's response to inquiries about the inappropriate sexual harassment and fondling.

"If he touches me I would kill him."
The hidden message - Don't bother Jordan with your problems or seek adult guidance - good luck your on your own.

Jordan was a representative of the university. It was his job to assure the students and sports team member were not subject to inappropriate sexual assault. He took no action when approached for his help - it was no secret to Jordan these concerns were genuine. He make no effort, he took no action to protect these athletes or students. Jordan only protected himself from the sexual assaults but refused to lift a finger to help these young students when they approached him for help and an appropriate way to bring this to a halt.

He failed. Athletes were subject to additional harm because he failed to take appropriate action to protect them. Don't depend on assistant coach Jordan - that is your problem to resolve.

What a selfish fuck.

This will be interesting to watch as the investigation plays out. I'm glad it's getting press attention, making it harder to cover-up.
(snip)

Ohio State University announced in April it was investigating abuse allegations against Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005, for allegedly abusing team members from the mid-1970s to late 1990s. Three former wrestlers told NBC News it was known that the doctor would shower regularly with the students and touch them inappropriately during appointments.
-----
The Ohio State University released a statement Tuesday saying the investigation is ongoing and that they are also "investigating whether, and to what extent, Dr. Strauss may have examined high school-aged students during his time at the university."
"Our efforts will continue to be focused on uncovering what may have happened during this era, what university leaders at the time may have known, and whether any response at the time was appropriate," the statement said. "Once the independent investigation has been completed, we will be in a position to consider what further action may be appropriate."

Ohio State sex assault victim claims GOP Rep. Jim Jordan witnessed doctor committing ‘lewd acts’ in showers

snip//

Appearing on CNN while the rest of the country was celebrating July 4th, a former wrestler who has come forward with tales of sexual abuse by an Ohio State University doctor told CNN host Brooke Baldwin that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) witnessed the doctor commit “lewd acts while showering with athletes when the lawmaker served as a assistant wrestling coach at the school.

snip//

Asked whether he had been in contact with Jordan before going public, DiSabato claimed that he had exchanged messages with the conservative lawmaker “didn’t deny what was happening, and he said he wanted to be left out of it.”

I'm sure most of these athletes were ashamed to go public and were intimidated by the coaches and staff. I don't know what led these guys to finally open up, but perhaps the women's Time's Up movement helped this along!

Along these same lines, I'm always inspired by this article because it addresses the bigotry in powerful men, from coaches to presidents:
A Women’s Revolt That Targets Far More Than Sexual Abuse
Link: https://www.truthdig.com/articles/womens-revolt-targets-far-sexual-abuse/

“This is a particular kind of politics,” Lakeman said. “It is women saying the left has not taken sexism seriously, has not taken women’s oppression seriously, and it won’t get away with this. Women are leading. It would be smart for anyone who wants transformation in the world to help us, help us fight class and race and sex bigotry.”
-----
Those who engage in this behavior, and Donald Trump is the poster child for this cultural sickness, are so atomized and narcissistic that to themselves they alone exist. They are stunted, deformed human beings. They are incapable of genuine relationships. They lack the capacity for empathy or self-reflection.
-----
All men benefit from this gender hierarchy and these systems of oppression,” Alice Lee, the co-founder of Asian Women Coalition Ending Prostitution, based in Vancouver, told me. “Individual men collude in this oppression together, knowingly or unknowingly. The public discussion has yet to acknowledge this. ‘Nice’ men, or ‘progressive’ men, are trying to ignore their own complicity. This makes it harder to institute real systemic change.

NOTE: Hellickson was the Head Wrestling Coach and Jordan's direct supervisor the entire time he was at Ohio St:

Three Strauss victims and former head coach Russ Hellickson appear in a 12-minute private video, describing the abuse. Hellickson recounts telling Strauss that he showered too frequently and too long with student-athletes. “I caught people having sex in our wrestling room, in the stairwell to the wrestling room, in the bathroom adjacent to our wrestling facility and I caught people in masturbation,” Hellickson said. “It became a real problem because it affected their mental state, a lot of our wrestlers.”

Hellickson, who served as head coach from 1986 to 2006, said in the video that “Certainly, all of my administrators recognized that it was an issue for me. I’m sure that I talked to all of them on numerous occasions about my discontent with the environment.”

One victim describes Strauss examining his genitals when being seen for heartburn.

Investigators hired by the university’s legal team have received confidential reports of sexual misconduct by Strauss from former student-athletes from 14 varsity sports teams. The investigators are also looking at whether, and to what extent, Strauss may have examined high school-aged students during his time at OSU.

Now we know that he turned a blind eye to a pedophile, who was putting himself on full display and sexually-abusing children. Jim Jordan belongs in the 8th ring of Hell for allowing this to continue, unabated.

If Al Franken can get booted from Congress for a questionably-dubious photograph, Jordan should be drawn and quartered on the House floor, then boiled in oil, and tarred and feathered.

If we have learned nothing in this country, we should all now realize the damage caused by adults who are too cowardly to speak up when they see perverted behavior right in front of them.

Jordan had all kinds of mouth to shoot off at Rosenstein the other day, but apparently is too much of a spineless maggot to defend young, vulnerable children being abused in plain sight.

In the NAVY, we would have said of Jordan, "Just another fool allowing his rowboat ass to be overpowered by his battleship mouth."

Shame on you, Jordan. Resign now, before the full story hits the news and you become the pariah that we know you'll be.

I believe he said he was 15.

Perhaps you are unaware that some teens as young as 16 (and younger) go to college, or take accelerated classes at near universities. I grew up not too far from Columbus (That's where OSU is located.) and was friends with an extremely smart honor student from Sandusky, who graduated from high school at 16.

Why are you pushing back on a man who did nothing to stop a pedophile ?

more egregious level of offense than what we know to be the case at this time. Apparently the possibility Strauss molested minors is being investigated, according an article posted by a DU'er upthread, but at this point it's not 'known'.

But for sure if Jordan was aware that the dude wasn't just taking liberties with adult college students but with high-schoolers as well, his culpability grows DRAMATICALLY, one would think.

It's true that 16 year olds do attend Uni sometimes, but I'd not think it's common for them to be 'on' the college's sports teams ... and hence would not be showering in the college locker room (that would be very odd if regarded as acceptable per school policy!), nor would they likely be seeing 'team doctors', but correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I realize this is somewhat OT given that what we're actually considering here is sexual ASSAULT, which is clearly WRONG in all cases, but I'd make the point that researchers and scientists who study this stuff actually don't lump people who are hot for 16 and 17 year olds ... into the same 'bucket' as those who pathologically obsess about molesting, like, 10 year olds.

Back when the Moore thing happened I looked into the research on the subject, and as sick as it is to consider, the majority of pedophiles ... would find 16 year olds ... let alone college students ... undesirably 'old'. Ephebophiles and Pedophiles are actually two almost entirely separate and distinct populations, oddly enough.
