Why would Rep. Jim Jordan, former OSU coach, cover for a doctor molesting students? I have a guess.

(Background: Jim Jordan is one of the attack dogs in the House, and recently tried and failed to take Rod Rosenstein down. Jordan wants to replace Paul Ryan as Speaker.)

OSU is investigating multiple claims that Dr. Richard Strauss, now deceased, molested many, many, many male students over his years as a team doctor.

Students say that Strauss molested them individually, and that he took showers with the wrestling team, and that this was common knowledge -- and one of the students KNOWS Coach Jordan knew because he told him after he got molested.

So why didn't they just fire the doctor? It can't be that hard to hire a team doctor. A particular team doctor doesn't affect the bottom line.

What if that team doctor was a Candy Man? A Candy Man doctor, dishing out steroids, probably would be harder to replace.

What do we know about Dr. Richard Strauss?

That he did research on the effects of steroid use (bad, he said)
That he was chosen as the doctor to do drug testing on Olympic athletes in 1984

And that he had this to say in 1988, in an article about the controversy about whether steroids improve athletic performance:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/wellness/1988/10/18/steroid-edge-real-or-illusion/f1bddee2-7235-43f8-aa2c-b9a2623a8c2d/?utm_term=.6fcb9c8eedb1

Dr. Richard Strauss, associate professor of medicine at Ohio State University in Columbus, says the fact that steroids have been around for so many years is, to some extent, a testament to their effectiveness. "Ninety-nine point nine percent of the things people take do not work," says Strauss, who also works with athletes. "It's the rare exception that you find anything that has an effect on athletic performance. The fact that steroids have stuck around so long and are currently such a problem suggests that they have a real effect on muscle and strength."

Strauss was an associate professor of medicine at Ohio State.

An article in the campus newspaper from 1984 said he was selected to test Olympic athletes for illegal drug use during the summer games in Los Angeles.

Other articles published during the 1980s indicated Strauss studied injury rates among wrestlers and other athletes, as well as the effects of steroid use.

Steroid manufacturers?

Just asking. I bet there’s a LOAD of shit that’s been hidden about this asshole. He strikes me as one whose loud obnoxious swagger is a tip-off of one who’s used to pulling nasty shit and always getting away with it. You start feeling pretty powerful, even invincible, after a couple of decades or so of that. trump exhibits that behavior too. You’ve gamed the system for so many years and gotten away with it that you start thinking you’re untouchable, and nothing’s ever gonna happen to you. And that’s often where you meet your comeuppance.

The various college sports coaches turned a blind eye because the athletic department depended on enhancement drugs such as steroids to one up their competition against other college teams and maybe Olympic team training programs.

College athletics is big business and commands big bucks.
