Judge will not extend deadlines for Trump administration to reunite families

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2018/07/10/judge-wont-extend-deadlines-trump-reunite-immigrant-families/772386002/

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Trump administration to abide by an order to reunite dozens of children with their parents by the end of the day, turning down a Department of Justice request for more time.

U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw, who ordered the administration to reunite nearly 3,000 children separated by federal immigration agents, asked an attorney for the ACLU to prepare a proposal for possible punishment if the government misses Tuesday's deadline to reunite the first round of families.

"These are firm deadlines," Sabraw said. "They’re not aspirational goals."

This administration understands only brute force. Start locking up administration figures, one every day, until the administration complies. If it please the court, I can put together a list of folks for the next, say, 30 days. If the administration continues to defy the court's lawful order, I will be happy to draw up another list. For free. As a public service.

You're welcome.

Wonder what punishment the family lawyers will come up with. I saw contempt charge followed by jail up thread and I have to say, it really has a nice ring to it.

Now if I could only sleep. This whole thing is all but unbearable. Don't know how I'm going to make it for another four months until the midterms. And LORDY we better take back the house!

Getting involved in our US House race to unseat our scuzzball Congress critter Greg Walden has helped some. At least it is giving me a target and righteous purpose for my anger.

DU helps too.

It's difficult to live on the edge of a knife all day, every day.

I think I'll head out to the horse rescue barn where I volunteer and give some of my four footed friends some love. They don't care about politics as long as you scratch their itchy spots and give them carrots!
