He's going to have to be stripped of everything and tossed into a dark hole never to be seen again. If he survives anything and makes it out into the real world again he'll find a way to cause a lot of trouble.

I was thinking about how he did this. Could he have hit send on the email while the laptop was in his possession but it didn’t send because there was no internet connection? Later the attorneys opened the laptop and it connected to the internet. The email was then sent without the attorneys’ participation or knowledge.

He wouldn't be able to access an online portal to write mails with his own personal e-mail.
If he is using a client he can use offline, then surely his lawyers must be aware of it because someone had to install it. I think the local client I use would only send the e-mail if I start the application again and after providing credentials.

If Manafort is using the lawyer's laptop to conspire to commit or further a crime, they are equally as guilty in the conspiracy.

from the story Manafort is using the lawyer's lap top to receive and send emails. He is using the attorney/client privilege to smuggle out (for lack of a better term) correspondence he does not want Mueller to see. His attorney should know better.

My question is, can Mueller subpoena it?

If you are claiming criminal negligence, then the prosecutor is equally guilty. After all, the prosecutor permitted Manafort to have a phone and laptop while being held.

Wed Jul 11, 2018, 04:09 PM

He is using one supplied by his attorney.

Although the jail does not allow prisoners to send or receive emails, Manafort appears to have developed a workaround. Manafort has revealed on the monitored phone calls that in order to exchange emails, he reads and composes emails on a second laptop that is shuttled in and out of the facility by his team. When the team takes the laptop from the jail, it reconnects to the internet and Manafort’s emails are transmitted.

What is in those emails, he wants to keep Mueller from finding out, by using a smuggled in lap top?

The attorney downloads emails onto the hard drive. Goes to visit Manafort and hands the lap top over to him. Manafort drafts the replies. When the attorney leaves the prison, he sends the emails out. I'd say that is intent.

How fucking stupid do you have to be to surreptitiously smuggle emails out of your prison cell, and then "allude" to those emails in phone calls that you must know are being monitored?

Am I missing something, or is he the dumbfuckingest criminal mastermind on the planet?

He is using a smuggled email setup to avoid the phone recordings, then mentions it during a phone call.

I mentioned this before. Manafort is rich. He is used to other people doing his dirty work. He tosses them money, tells them to fix it. He never learned how to cover his own tracks. Now that he has to, he ain't got a fucking clue how to. He doesn't have a paid lackey to remind him of these trivial matters.

He has an over inflated ego. He thinks that he is too important and wealthy for little things like prison recordings to trip him up. Bless his heart.

true Lawyer story: New atty. got to the courtroom after the clerk had called his name for the third time - actually just as the clerk was calling his name. Judge held him in contempt of court and set a $50 fine and said: "Sheriff, don't let this man leave the courthouse without paying $50."

and the impressions I got is that the judge might give this a pass, and let all of the "VIP" treatment ride to make sure there is absolutely nothing they can try to point to WHEN they try to appeal that he was not given enough opportunity to mount his defense.

As much as it burns my ass, this is not new with him, apparently there have been other big name people who have been treated the same way there.

It isn't right, but different rules ...

Unbelievable that he thinks he can continue to pull the wool over the Special Counsel's eyes. Then he has his army of legal suits claiming he is being treated unfairly... He and the rest of the corrupt Dumpy cabal need to be locked up permanently. Aside from his nefarious financial activities, the worst of his offenses is treason.

Isn't it about time we started treating him like every other defendant. Or is that just for ordinary people.

Among the unique privileges Manafort enjoys at the jail are a private, self-contained living unit, which is larger than other inmates’ units, his own bathroom and shower facility, his own personal telephone, and his own workspace to prepare for trial. Manafort is also not required to wear a prison uniform. On the monitored prison phone calls, Manafort has mentioned that he is being treated like a
“VIP.”

appointment to the bench. Paul maybe having his fun now but in legal circles there is something called a “trial tax”. What is that? Well if you decide to try your case in front of a jury you better win because if you are found guilty the Court will most certainly make an example of you. For example, look at Martha Stewart, Leona Helmsley, Mike Vick all of whom were made examples by receiving prison terms. Manafort is playing with fire.
