I'm kind of on the same side on adultery as Louis Gomer (sp) with a huge caveat. (Original Post) DemocratSinceBirth Jul 2018 OP

The reality is that adultery, like many other human failings, is a complex thing that in reality, is between partners.

I have viewed it as a character issue, and still believe that there are implications for how the cheater views trust and loyalty. That said, a person can have integrity in other aspects of life and fail at fidelity within a relationship. It is an issue that involves both the personal psychology of the cheater and the dynamics of the relationship between the adulterer and partner.

That said, Gohmert who has shown little integrity in any aspect of his life, has no validity in this line of questioning as it is irrelevant and was just a dirty attack on Strozk. As you said, for him to use this line of attack on an FBI agent while simultaneously supporting a serial cheater, who also has a history of cheating on taxes, cheating in business, and swindling creditors, contractors, and client's out of money; is ridiculous.

that being said as someone who has been cheated on by their spouse I tend to have a very dim view of cheaters. The pain of betrayal is very real and very traumatic.

If your marriage sucks that bad then file for divorce.

I have a female friend for over thirty years. She was the first person I called when my mom passed. I'm sure I could have slept with her even though she was married. If I did I am sure we wouldn't have had a thirty plus year friendship.

I never had the desire to cuckold someone. I once had a co-worker whose husband was a serial cheater. She broke down in tears telling me about it. I remember a great line from Mad Men when the cuckolded husband said to Don Draper "you want to step out, find yourself a -----. sleep with another man's wife you're trash."

What was galling was Gomer's (sp) hypocrisy. He was attacking one adulterer in the service of another.
