'Our pleas have fallen on deaf ears': Michigan farmers who supported Trump blast tariffs destroying their livelihoodsTom Boggioni 13 JUL 2018 AT 15:37 ET
According to David Williams, a fifth-generation soybean farmer in Elise, Michigan, the 25 percent tariff imposed by China in retaliation for the presidents tariffs is killing the agricultural sector.
Nobody wins in a trade war, said Williams, he 67-year-old president of the Michigan Soybean Association. Were not going to win. Chinas not going to win. In the meantime, soybean farmers are just hurting.
Williams pointed the finger directly at President Donald Trump, who he believes was put in the White House by rural mid-westerners like himself.

(9,109 posts)You had more than ample warning that a Trump Administration would be a disaster and more than enough evidence and more than enough tools to learn that those warnings were all too valid, yet you voted for Donnie and the Republicans anyway.
You expect us to sympathize with you? We knew better than to vote for that man or his party and you dragged us along for the ride to Hell, too.
Despite your stereotypes about us Libs, we expected better of you, yet you gave in to your worst impulses and voted Republican. I have no sympathy.

(11,686 posts)with some idiotic belief that trump would not include him and his kind who also voted for him. I feel bad for those of us who knew the truth of what would happen and are the ones who are going to suffer also. Well, Mr. Williams, welcome to the result of your actions, vote, and willingness to stay ignorant of the truth.

(82,849 posts)Perhaps you should check with your president, who said that trade wars are good and easy to win:

However, if you're disappointed with the man you helped elect president, perhaps you're ready to consider someone else? Too bad you have to wait a few more seasons for that chance. In the meantime, John Moolenar is currently your representative in Congress. What has he done to ease your burden from Trump's ill-considered policies? He's unopposed for the Republican nomination in the August 7 primary, so you're stuck with his do-nothing approach.
Maybe you should consider the Democratic side of the ticket?
