The Rude Pundit hits on the fundamental hypocrisy and idiocy of the Republican Strzok hunt, and also pulls out a quote from the hearing I haven't seen elsewhere:
...
Rep. Ted Poe, a Republican jizz bucket from the suburbs of Houston, wondered, "How do we know that there's not bias in the FBI in this particular investigation or other investigations? How do we know that?"
After some back and forth, Strzok answered, "You look at what I did. You look at what the inspector general concluded, not only me, but all the agents and assistant directors and EADs and DDEs and everybody involved in the investigation. And you see that the evidence, unequivocally, is there is no act of bias. So this false assertion that you're making that political personal belief must equal bias, that somehow we have merged those two words together in the dictionary is one of the triumphs of what's been going on recently that I cannot disagree with more. A judge asks jurors, are you able to set aside your personal opinions and render a judgment based on the facts? Sir, you know that, based on your extensive experience. What I am telling you is that I and the other men and women of the FBI every day take our personal beliefs and set those aside in vigorous pursuit of the truth wherever it lies, whatever it is."
Then a Republican congressman from Texas looked at an FBI agent with years of experience dealing with Russia and who was under oath and said, "And I don't believe you."
As much as it pains this liberal to side with the FBI after their history of mistreating the left, it was genuinely stunning to see Republicans take the side of the country's enemies and against the people who serve the nation. That's a bold assertion, but it's becoming increasingly clear that it's the only rational explanation.

(296,878 posts)Rude's analysis. I am definitely on the side of the FBI now.. it doesn't sound like James Comey was as unbiased and kept his personal feelings out of his job.. as Peter Strzok seems to be.

That whole session was a blatant attack on the FBI with the sole purpose of defending the indefensible - namely the orange *ss pretending to be the POTUS and sullying the reputation of an institution that keeps the US safe. I am disgusted with the picture of our (R)representatives and the show they put on for all the world to see. Talk about a nothingburger!

(6,907 posts)the right wing nuts don't believe that some one can separate their personal beliefs from their examination of facts, because right wing nuts don't do that. In fact, the right wing nuts do the reverse, they act blindly partisan and ignore facts.

(3,522 posts)-They dont believe in ethicis because they believe ALL politicians are unethical.
-They take bribes from corporations and rich doners because they believe ALL politicians take bribes.
-They tell lies without any regard for facts because they believe ALL politicians do that.
-They dont act with any sign of decency or humanity because they think ALL humanity is as soulless, selfish and greedy as they are.
And the list goes on and on. Feel free to add to it. And the same can be said for their Neanderthal base. They may have the power, but they are miserable SOBs, and I wouldnt trade places with them for all the stolen riches they hoard.
But it would be nice to live in a world where decent, honest, and compassionate leader work together to help ALL their constituents rather then just the ones who can pay for their services.

(3,010 posts)"And yet, despite knowing that Donald Trump was unfit to be president, I did nothing to derail his candidacy." Then, he might even express some regret on that front.
What if he said that at the beginning of every answer?
