16. Our television plays movies. That's all it does.

We watch DVDs we find in thrift stores, we rent RedBox DVDs, for exceptional movies we will sometimes buy the DVD, and we have the minimum Netflix subscription, a single "standard definition" stream over an inexpensive medium speed DSL connection.

No cable, no satellite, no broadcast television. We quit television years ago and are never going back.

The only television commercials I'm exposed to are the clever ones people sometimes post here on DU as YouTube videos, or when I'm trapped in a waiting room with people who want the television on. I always ask if I can turn waiting room televisions off unless there is someone obviously watching.

One of the things that irritated me about cable television is that part of the cable fees go to entities I despise (Fox News, etc.) whether I like it or not.

Overall, I think television is useless as a news medium.

Everything that spews from Trump's mouth, or his twitter accounts, is bullshit. Listening to people trying to analyze Trump's words is madness. Trump's words don't matter, only the actions of the his administration do.

Television news fools people into thinking they have their eyes on the ball but mostly it's just advertising crap served up with imitation cheese news.
