Every time I have written to my MoC's here in CA all I have received, after three-four weeks, is a form letter email thanking me for my views and telling me what he/she did recently, which has nothing to do with what I wrote about. But it's very noticeable that all their sites have a "Donate" button.

In the case of a couple of them, when using their web site, you have to select the "subject" of your email from a list of issues. There's no other way: the email won't go through without a choice. Most of the issues are generic, like "Education" or "Health."

A few weeks ago I conducted an experiment with Sen. Kamala Harris. I was on her mailing list for a while, and one day I decided to see what would happen. So I sent her an email (the subject I wanted wasn't in the list, so I picked one at random), and asked her very politely to please take me off her mailing list UNLESS it was to tell me what she and her colleagues are doing specifically about DJT. I basically said I didn't want to hear about putting Band-Aids on a compound fracture: I wanted to hear about fixing the fracture.

To this day, I've had no response. So all I can figure is that some aide or intern or email reader saw my email, realized she wan't doing anything specifically about DJT, and did what I asked her to do: take me off her mailing list. Which is fine with me.

For the record: I flat-out refuse to donate money to any elected official who doesn't take steps to show that they're listening to their constituents unless they're mega-donors who can put them back in office. And I'm not just talking about Sen. Harris.

Now, if I KNEW that several hundred thousand VOTERS were banding together to write EACH MoC about a specific topic, and taking serious steps to make sure the media knew and published what they were doing, then I'd join in. But a few here and there... from what I've seen, it all just goes into the memory hole.
