It looks like Trump destroyed himself today.

But this will take time to sink in. Trump went with Putin, and against the CIA, FBI our allies and the U.S.A. When the country fully understands what happened today, Trump will be gone, one way or another. There is no walking back, and Trump never apologizes for anything. No explanation will work, because there is none. This will be talked about for months. If Republicans defend Trump, it will help Democrats in November. November could see a "blue wave" beyond anything imagined.

dalton99a, you just NAILED it. I'm editing this to make sure you get credit when I go back and reread it and try to recall what was said by whom. "Trump fully revealed himself as a traitor and a Russian puppet".

A lot of us knew that already, but it's quite eyebrow-raising to see other voices than ours gradually starting to chime in. John McCain's statement, for one, was hardly what you'd call a softball. And I'm still wondering about that rumored GOP "emergency meeting" that supposedly was abruptly called earlier today.

The damage done by the Dotard this trip is going to compromise our interests world wide. That may be the saving grace as he is now messing with markets and donor money. If they turn on him, he's done.

My initial thought though, the trumpanzees will dig their heels in even more to prove they were not conned and played for the easy marks that they are. It's the self preservation of their own egos that is keeping him elevated in the base.

If no outrage by them, the news will move on.

You give his supporters more credit them they deserve, he did this to see how far he could push, something he's been doing since he got into office! And each time he's moved his agenda forward, congressional Republicans and his base have stood by him!

If he were to declare martial law tomorrow, do you really believe that his supporters would 'get it'? Do you believe that Republicans in Congress would 'get it'? Do you even believe that the 4 conservatives on the SCOTUS would 'get it'?

He could actually shoot someone at the Lincoln Memorial and his supporters still wouldn't 'get it'!!!

if his supporters coalesce behind him solidly after this, he has a green light to do any goddam thing he likes.

the baby prisons were a test, too, and the deplorables' devotion "passed", but this one's harder -- it takes place without the lure of racism and bigotry to aid it, except in the abstract. they have to really want a reward that's not immediate gratification of some base urge, and this will be the turning point.

if they can excuse treason, they can excuse anything, and humanity gets another object lesson in genocide.

but if they can't, then their resolve falters, and their numbers diminish. perhaps some healing could begin.

I hope that it does but I think the dynamic we have is that most trump supporters are more unified in their deep hatred of liberals, democrats, democratic organizations, etc.

They will not view the attach by russia on the DNC, Democratic organizations as an attack on Americans. They believe its a warranted attack on what they perceive as the reason their culture and their way of life has changed.

I believe if you polled trump supporters if they would be in favor of Russia attacking the democrats in America, you would get many of them in favor.

I think they do it out of pride. They must know Trump is bad for them and America, but their pride won't let them admit that or come over to the liberal side of things that provides every benefit and protection they hang on to.

That was the tipping for Nixon and Donald just passed his in Helsinki.

The Saturday Night Massacre was a series of events on the evening of Saturday, October 20, 1973, during the Watergate scandal in the United States. U.S. President Richard Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire independent special prosecutor Archibald Cox; Richardson refused and resigned effective immediately. Nixon then ordered Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus to fire Cox; Ruckelshaus refused, and also resigned. Nixon then ordered the third-most-senior official at the Justice Department, Solicitor General Robert Bork, to fire Cox. Bork considered resigning, but did as Nixon asked. The political and public reaction to Nixon's actions were negative and highly damaging to the president.

This "private" meeting with Putin was about making a deal for Russia's help with the mid-terms. Trump already gave it away when he predicted the other day that we would see big red wins in the mid-terms? How does he know this when all of the trends are pointing to democrats winning? The deal was done and no one is doing anything to stop this. Republicans are poised to keep power and control.

Pussy grabbing didn't do it.
The POW insult to McCain didn't do it.
The Meghan bleeding out of her wherever comment didn't do it.

Threatening to take trans vet's benefits away didn't do it.
Immigration policies that tear children away from their parents didn't do it.
Packing the Supreme Court in a way that will reverse much progressive federal written law since the Civil Rights Act hasn't done it.
A million other mini-atrocities haven't

Televised Treason? We'll see. But I'm beginning to think this Trump's 5th Avenue prediction might hold at this point.

I'm frightened for our country.

He thinks he is the CEO of the US, and the intelligence agencies are just departments in HIS company that have been giving him bad advice. He thinks Putin is head a big company he'd like to merge with, but first he needs to break contracts he has with a bunch of subsidiaries of a company called Europe. He thinks Congress is his Board of Directors who rubber stamps his decisions because he holds a majority share in the company.
