Joe Biden responds to Trump and Putin's press conference:

Copied from Joe Biden's Facebook Page:

This week, the President had the opportunity to assure our closest allies that America stands with them as we have for over 70 years. He could have rightly taken pride in increased defense spending among NATO allies since the Wales Summit in 2014, and the Alliance's firm resolve to counter threats to our collective security. Instead he insulted our friends and made common cause with our adversaries.

Today our President had the chance to confront an adversary who has attacked — and continues to attack — our democracy and our allies. He could have stood up for American interests and values. He chose not to.

Instead, he embraced our number one adversary, blamed America rather than Russian aggression for the deterioration in our bilateral relations, trashed his own justice department, and put Putin’s word above that of our own intelligence community whose leaders he appointed.

Attacking the values that make our democracy strong — including strong institutions, the rule of law, a free press and fair elections — does not help us lead abroad. Flattering dictators will not advance American interests. It makes us less safe.

Today’s press conference was beneath the dignity of the Office of the President. The President's words do not reflect what Americans think and who we are. Congress and the American people must speak out to make it clear that we believe in democracy over dictatorship, that we support our allies and not those who seek to weaken us, and that we will defend our freedom when it is attacked.

WE can say anything. We're nobodies. Who listens to US? But if you have a national platform, you can be slapped w/a slander lawsuit by teh litigious Trump (he's had thousands of lawsuits)...he has to show it defamed him, it's not true, it was said with malice. "It's not true" may sound tricky...but since "treason" is a legal word, a crime...if he hasn't been found guilty or plead guilty of treason, it's presumed not true.

But a person can choose an alternate word that's not a legal charge.

"Treason" is a crime. It requires evidence or a finding of guilt. Trump could win a lawsuit over that one. IF he'd sue. But traitor would be safe, I think. It's just a personal judgment of his behavior and not a crime.

OMG we may slander Donald fucking Trump! Meanwhile, Hillary is called every name under the sun. Obama has been slandered hundreds of times.

What the hell is Trump going to do? Take the person who said it, all the thousands that say it, to court for slander?

Even if they picked out one prominent Democrat to sue, then what? Have all the evidence that the defendant produce to prove he is a traitor brought out for all to see once again? Even IF he or she technically loses, it would be worth the publicity.

Bring it on.

I'm not concerned about hurting his feelings. I agree to be BOLD and outspoken, and think our leaders have been too soft and meek. But you have to be aware of the words you use, whether they can land you in court with a big slander judgment against you.

I understand what you are saying. But my point was....so what?

He already has Mueller's probe hanging over him which will be airing all his dirty laundry. Do you really think, even if he thinks he could win which is debatable, he would want yet another avenue of airing when the defendant starts bringing up actual evidence, even if circumstantial.

The legal term of treason is...."Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort"

I'm not too sure that Trump would even win that argument. There is already plenty of evidence of just that.

and besides, if some congressperson was sued and lost for millions, we could get a go fund me campaign to pay it.

I think he could sue over someone saying he's guilty of treason, when there is no legal evidence that he's guilty of it, it defamed him, and it was said out of malice.

But "traitor" is a safer word, I think.

Ex-CIA Head Says Donald Trump Committed 'Treasonous,' Impeachable Offense During Putin Press Conference - Newsweek

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-putin-treasonous-brennan-cia-1026468

Former Illinois Republican congressman and conservative talk radio host Joe Walsh voiced a similar sentiment. "This press conference is an absolute disgrace," he tweeted. "Trump won't even side with America. What Trump did today was commit treason. He cannot be supported anymore. He is a clear & present danger to America. Republicans can no longer be quiet. I won't be quiet. I am done with him."

So I guess I was wrong! Mea culpa!

(I can admit when I'm wrong. Of course, they may be risking it, anyway, knowing he won't sue. For one thing, there are going to be too many saying it, for him to sue them all.)

I especially like what Joe Walsh said (JOE WALSH????)....that Trump "is a clear & present danger." Whoa.
