and who are in need of a shave, selling me shit on TV?
Is that the millennial look of intelligence or something. Or are these guys supposed to represent the alpha males of today?
They usually are acting like CEO types or something. Everyone else in the commercials are sucking up to them.
Maybe you havent noticed but I see them a lot in commercials.

So now I shave and get haircuts again.

(63,221 posts)I don't mind it if the hair on his head is a little on the longer side, but a scruffy face just looks kind of slovenly and hides his features.

(31,661 posts)Don't care at all for the Grizzly Adams look. And what's with the real long beards like on baseball players. They look like they've got a carpet wrapped around their neck, bleah. Can't wait to till this fad is over.

(5,498 posts)Do the math. Add the cost of shaving cream and blades and hot water or the cost of an electric razor. Plus, if you look wide-eyed strangers tend to avoid you.

(24,378 posts)and a little over $3.18.
I did the math.
rickford66
(5,498 posts)((5 min/day) X 365 days )/(60 min/hr) = 30.41666 hours
PS edit I have no idea about cost of blades etc as I haven shaved in 46 years
I forgot I stopped shaving while in the Navy (1969) so it's been 49 years. Seeing Mineralman's post jarred this old brain.

(11,949 posts)I can see my mirror from my shower.
Lathering up the brush in the mug on the menthol soap, wetting the old fashion safety razor and giving myself a nice shave then washing my face in the warm shower.
No better way to start the day.

(11,949 posts)Just have learned to appreciate the little things.
Heck, I appreciate drinking a cup of coffee watching the butterflies in our garden. And being on the boat catching fish for supper. And that after 31 years while I turn into a troll my wife keeps getting hotter!
Forgive me. Went to a funeral recently. Makes a man think.
And BTW...my wife truly is hot!
You have a great evening.
rickford66
(5,498 posts)I wish I could have enjoyed the Gulf Coast under better circumstances. My wife passed away last year and she was hot for 46 years. Never walk away from your wife while angry. Take care.

(11,949 posts)I remember mother cooking on the Coleman stove after Camille in Baton Rouge. One of my earliest memories.
I have always assumed the wife will outlive me. Cant imagine being without her.
I would have loved to see the gulfcoast back then before development. My father said it was paradise.
I wish you the best.

(146,192 posts)It varies in length, depending on how often I visit him. I used to trim it myself, but now let someone do it who understands how to trim a full beard so it grows out neatly. This morning, it's quite long. Next week it will get trimmed to about a 1" overall length, only to grow out again over time.
Codeine
(25,586 posts)but I cant grow one for shit. I can grow a full goatee in a week or so, but the rest is a sad, curly, patchy mess. About once a year I try and give up in frustration after a couple weeks.
As far as hairstyle, make pattern baldness has decreed a skinhead look for me for quite some time now.
I used to wear Doc Marten boots, jeans, and a bomber jacket a lot and nobody paid any attention to me until I shaved my head, then I got a lot of stares. I couldnt understand why until I saw myself in a storefront window I looked like an extra from the set of American History X! Havent worn that particular combo since.
