Orwell only had his title-date wrong. But everything else from “1984” is truer than ever.

We (as a people) failed. Something good may yet result from the current mess. If not, we’ve not only failed ourselves and the planet, we will have sealed our doom.

I respectfully submit the term "e-quisling" as a new term to refer to the handful of rabidly loyal trumpists on future comments. It is meant to be a descriptor, not a pejorative, thus not in violation of user agreements.
