Republicans, especially Trump, do not like to play defense.

Trump and the Republicans have had the great opportunity to be on the defensive for the last 3 or 4 days. Trump screwed up so badly that their entire Party lost control of their "narrative" for a while. It was even more than they, masters of virtue that they are, could stand.

When Trump came out of his private 2 1/2 hour meeting with Putin, he looked like he just woke up? Low energy. Very low energy. Incredibly low energy. It was not a good day for optics. The tired old hound dog doesn't look good under these circumstances...

Nevertheless, their Party seems to have recovered somewhat since Monday. They are finally beginning to get their story straight. Trump is now sure that Putin interfered in our election. We can only imagine the conversations that went on, as they were preparing him for his return to his beloved America.

But, for some odd reason, most Americans did not like the idea of their leader groveling to Valdimir Putin. Even the most devoted fans could not cross that line. Their loyalty to America out-weighed the lies created by Trump and Russia. So now, he has invited Putin to the White House for a fall visit.
