Former NJ US Senator Robert the Torch Torricelli-D.

violations that perhaps the name of one of them would cause that to leap to mind.
Thank you for the striking comparison of the rarity of serious ethics charges among Democrats with what's happened on the right.
The right always tended to be much more prone to corruption because they don't believe in their role in a liberal democracy. But 7 years after Citizens United, and then McCutcheon, helped stuff congress with tools of the very wealthy, every single Republican congressman and Senator is intensely corrupt in apparently every possible way, to the point of now threatening to destroy our democracy.
Even though he was later cleared of the more serious charges, Torricelli did violate ethics for campaign donations, and that lead to the loss of his senate seat when he ran for reelection. Unfortunately, only in the Democratic Party.
But let's remember the rest of his record. At his very worst, Torricelli served America well, while his colleagues on the right worked to betray their constituents. Right, Oberliner?
