Don't claim to be an expert here, but if Republican's can win by going extreme right why can't Dems

Last edited Mon Jul 23, 2018, 02:23 AM - Edit history (1)

go left and win? Trump was as far right as they come. I know many will say he didn't really win but even if it was Russia and Comey that put him over the top, it had to be pretty close to put him in striking distance.

I am not taking a position, just asking the question to get some thoughts. There are more Democrats than Republicans so you would think it could work to our favor to get the base excited.

Thoughts? I am open to hearing both sides on this because the election coming up is extremely important.

2. Yet another example of media bias

Democrats are constantly chastised for being overly partisan, overly disrespectful of the right's crazy views, overly extreme in their own views, etc.

They don't come down on the right nearly as much or as often because it's accepted that the right wing is extreme and partisan and disrespectful.

is mainly about racist white people, more specifically racist christian hetero white males.

and the system favors the republicans so even if democrats get millions more votes nationally they still have a chance of having more control.

and the democratic base is mostly black and other poc , jews and other minorites and they tend to NOT be "extreme" .

7. We don't have a foreign government flooding voters with lies.

If Republicans didn't have that, Trump wouldn't have come anywhere near the presidency.
He probably would have been eliminated early on.
It was only the misinformation from Russia, Fox and AM radio that installed an extremist in the presidency.
Without that immoral help I don't think extreme views attract most voters.

And especially this election only winning should be the goal,
Pushing strong left policy ideas can come after we've won.

1. Single payer for all
2. free college for all.
3. Go to mars and invest more in science!
4. Full protections for gays and transgender people! Maybe a national right to change ones name act.
5. Strengthen the unions. Maybe some kind of federal law to over turn all the right to "work" bs that is spreading in conservative shit holes.

10. Because Retrumplicans goose-step extremely well

Evangelical Retrumplicans supporting a pedophile for US Senate? - Sure, as long as he has an "R" after his name.

Anti-Russian Retrumplicans supporting a president kneeling before a former KGB agent and a murdering, authoritarian thug? - Sure, as long as he has an "R" after his name.

Anti-Choice Retrumplicans supporting a president who has surely paid for multiple mistresses abortions? - Sure as long as he has an "R" after his name.

See, the Retrumplicans have learned a very valuable lesson that we all should learn...YOU CAN'T DO A FUCKING THING UNLESS YOU CONTROL THE LEVERS OF POWER IN THIS COUNTRY

We like to wax poetic about the "rights of the minority", but the simple fucking truth is...Retrumplicans don't give a fuck what the "minority" care about.

It's evident from OH, to WI to the National Level. Example after example exist of Retrumplcans winning office by 51.1% of the vote, or in the case of the last two Retrumplican Presidents...losing the popular vote, and yet...they govern as if they won 98% of the vote.

BTW - There are NO more "republicans". There is nothing on that side but "ReTrumplicans".

IF YOU DON'T VOTE AND SUPPORT THE DEMOCRAT ON YOUR BALLOT...ANY BALLOT...THEN YOU'D MIGHT AS WELL KISS DONNIE SHORT FINGERS ASS

It's the same result...

11. Because there are about twice as many conservatives as liberals in the US

Something like 40% of Americans are conservative, and something like 20% are liberal.

The line in the middle has moved to the right over the years, so a conservative Democrat is what a sane Republican used to look like. If we move to the right in attempt to garner votes, we're laughed out of the room. If someone is crazy enough to vote for a Republican they'll vote for the real thing. I say we try going left. We sure as hell can't do any worse than what we have been doing trying to be appeasers. And we need to stop being so darn nice, too. Example: do not say "misspoke" or "falsehood." Say "lie."

policies.

Universal healthcare
Raising minimum wage
Debt free college
Paid Family leave
Paid medical leave
Getting money out of politics
Raising taxes on 1%

All supported by majority of Americans.

But some seem to think we should be listening to Comey, Lieberman and the Third Way think tank. Very odd.
