Mitt Romney slams the Chevy Volt

When it comes to the American auto industry, Mitt Romney believes its investment in a fuel-efficient future is a joke.

The 64-year-old Republican presidential candidate and former governor of Massachusetts responded with dismissive laughter when recently asked what he thought of the Chevy Volt, adding that the plug-in hybrid is an “idea whose time has not come.” His campaign later went on to defend the statement as reflective of the car’s slow sales—but critics were quick to pounce.

United Auto Workers Local 22 President George McGregor says Romney should think before bashing innovation born in Detroit. “It’s not an idea that is ahead of its time,” he said on a conference call with reporters. “It’s behind its time. It should have been here (years ago), so we wouldn’t be dependent on foreign oil.”

On the other hand, I briefly dated a girl who drove a Gremlin. It was kinda funny looking too but I didn't mind because she wasn't.
Curiously, she was also a Mormon.

I promise you though that had my English teacher known of any Mormon ties to AMC she would never have bought a Pacer. Independent, Fundamental, Bible-believing Baptists don't have much truck with Mormons.

12. My first car was an AMC that got 14mpg. And it wasn't an AMX or anything cool like that. It was an

Eagle, which was basically a Gremlin with a Jeep drivetrain.

I'd like to personally thank the Mittens and his father for making me grossly overspend on gas during my late teenage years.
