Trump hits highest job approval in latest quarter: Gallup

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 07/24/18 08:25 AM EDT

President Trump hit his highest average approval rating in his sixth quarter in office, reaching a personal best of 41.9 percent between April and July, according to Gallup polling.

That number shows a more than two-percent increase from the fifth quarter average of 39.1 percent and comes in slightly above the approval average for his first three months in office of 41.3 percent — Trump's previous best for a quarter.

In each week between April 20 and July 19, Trump's approval came in at at least 40 percent, according to Gallup and his approval rating peaked at 45 percent during the week of his June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

Following the historic summit, the president's approval fell back to around 41 percent.

He is being given credit for the current prosperity

And he has made so many gaffes and the Russia scandal has been discussed so long that it isn't really registering anymore for people who are not politically focused

Approval with Republicans is sky high because of the tax cuts and his SCOTUS pick.

It is 88% of that 23% .......

Are the ones that say he is doing a great job. That is where the job approval comes from. Not from Independents, Democrats, or former Republicans.

Trump's base has not expanded, but actually gotten smaller, more Regional. That means states dominated by Republican Governors and Legislatures, are the states with the most people on Federal Assistance of some kind due to low wages, no healthcare, poor educational opportunities, etc. These are who rally at Trump's ME, ME events, who think they are benefitting from the tax cuts.

Propoganda works well with people who are poorly informed.

This is not far off the 538 average which has remained steady despite seemingly disastrous political news cycles for Trump like kidnappings at the border, shitting on allies, and sucking off Kim Jong Un and Putin... It is disheartening, but that 40% is going to support him no matter what he does because that's who they are... they are racists and authoritarians and the more extreme and unconscionable his behavior gets, the more they support him because they love the fact that he pisses off liberals or anyone with a social conscience and or brain. What I hope is that with each and every disgusting Trump led news cycle, the 15-20% in the middle become more embarrassed and assured that they will never support this POS again. He needs more than 40% but it may be hard for him to pull anything but his base due to his extreme insulting and often unethical behavior. That's what we have been seeing in these special elections in places he won by 10% 2 years ago and is now losing regularly it seems to me.
