Trump: "I'm very concerned that Russia will be pushing very hard for the Democrats" in Midterms

HMMMM...Bush v Gore 2020 with a SCOTUS stacked by Trump?

@realDonaldTrump

I’m very concerned that Russia will be fighting very hard to have an impact on the upcoming Election. Based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me, they will be pushing very hard for the Democrats. They definitely don’t want Trump!

one thing this definitely won't lead to is enhanced security for our voting systems
this is all about punishing his political opposition, expect the GOP to dance right along with it

to dismiss Russian attacks altogether. If Democrats take it seriously then they can show it really isn't about party politics but genuine concern about the nation, just as it is.

And they can push Trump to do something about it and gain credibility from independents.

If the response is laughter, Russian attacks on US will be seen as hoax just as Trump and Putin want.

I'm afraid the response to his tweet has so far been exactly what he wanted.

We don't have a President who listens. Winning congress is the only way to deal with this outside of Mueller and some other investigations.

But getting the independents on board is part of winning the congress I think?

By taking Russian interference seriously Democrats can gain moral high ground. Especially if Trump says Russians will help you guys this time. I would see this as very rare opportunity.

But there is also danger that if Trump's tweet is dismissed and laughed just because Russia will supposedly aid Democrats this time, many will see Russian interference as party politics.

Independents are an extreme minority compared to non-voters. Independents who lean left are an even smaller minority. Independents aren't who people like to think they are.

"By taking Russian interference seriously Democrats can gain moral high ground."

We are clearly taking it seriously. I agree with you. We are on the moral high ground.

Sorry for my bad spelling, it must make me bit difficult to understand. I really try to write understandably.

I don't know if that's what it is but if I were Trump this could be one possibility he could discredit current investigations as politicizing and also affect upcoming elections and independents.

On the other hand I don't see downside in taking Trump up to his word and turn his tweet against him.

Even if he tries to discredit the election results and the blue wave that hopefully comes, if Democrats react correctly now you can pre-empt his discrediting beforehand.

I don't think he wouldn't expect this as he is probably certain (and in 99% cases right) that anything he says will be dismissed and laughed at by liberals.

And yes, you do certainly have the high ground. But I believe it's important to show it especially now.
