Trump defenders downplay evidence of Russian collusion: "So what?"

More and more evidence is mounting in the case against President Donald Trump and Russia's meddling in the 2016 election. The latest information from Trump's own attorney, Michael Cohen, indicates that the president knew in advance about the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between his son and Kremlin-connected Russians. It is the most persuasive proof yet that the president had knowledge of Russia's intentions to influence the election.

Some Americans don't seem to care. Many right-wing pundits and politicos have tried to wave off the significance of this evidence. National Review editor Andrew McCarthy, for example, told Fox News viewers on Thursday that it would be acceptable for the Trump campaign to "turn to foreign governments for dirt."

I don't have a problem w/ getting dirt on election opponents from foreigners. But if you do, why was it OK for Hillary Clinton to secretly hire a foreign spy to get dirt on her opponent from Kremlin officials, and seed that info into the media and weaponize it in the US gov't?

If we don't, trump can nominate Putin as the acting head of our military and the Congress will say, "ho hum, nothing to see here."

Nobody is above the law. PR, propaganda, and bullshit do not change the facts of whether the law was obeyed or broken?

Conspiracy is the legal term we will soon be using to describe one of them 'high crimes and misdemeanors.'

1. No one from the Trump campaign ever met with any Russians

2. There were some meeting with Russians, but Trump himself knew nothing about them

3. Trump knew about some meetings with Russians but they were completely innocent meetings

4. Trump did know about his campaign getting dirt on Clinton from the Russians, but everyone does that

I think stage 5 is: Trump did conspire with the Russians to steal the election, but he had to do that to beat Hillary.

Convenient. They should also know that while everybody does "Oppo research", they are the only ones in history to get it from an enemy.

Big fucking deal! So he's in Putin's hip pocket. Just because Putin's mission is to destroy western democracy and the US Constitution doesn't mean that he's Trumpy's enemy. That's just fine with Trumpy as long as Trumpy gets a good offer for building a hotel in Moscow and so he gets a few billion from the big oil/gas deal that's been offered to him before the election.

Oh... it might matter to the 99% that Russia takes over the US, but not to Trumpy. He'll be a billionaire oligarch just like Putin. What does he care? Everyone else is expendable, like ants in an ant colony.

Em... I forgot. You know, Trumpy's Fanboys? The ones who are saying, so what? They think that Trumpy will give them a cut of the action. Guess what, Fanboys. Trumpy only needed your vote in 2016. After that, he doesn't give a shit. He even said so right after the election. Did you catch that little remark? Oh. You didn't? Well, too bad for you, suckers. Trumpy is in Putin's league, not yours. You're not invited. If it's a matter of Trumpy getting a few million or YOU getting affordable health insurance, guess what Trumpy will pick? If you can't afford rent or a mortgage because you're indebted to banks for school loans or anything else, and you can only afford a tent in a homeless lot, guess where YOU go to sleep. Suckers.
