Only 9 Republican Senate seats are up for grabs, and 3 are vulnerable. 26 or 27 Democratic seats are up and at least 5 are vulnerable. We need to pick up a net of 2, so those numbers are a bit of an uphill climb. Not impossible, but much more difficult than the House, where everybody is up and according to the Cook report, 65 Republican seats are in play and only 5 Democratic seats, We need a pick up of 23, so it's just much more doable.

Great so maybe we take the house.

The house impeaches trump.

Turtle blocks it in the senate.

We continue to get FFFFFF***** by trump. End of the country.

My hypothesis is the repukes (the somewhat sane ones anyway) want us to clean up their mess. We always clean up their mess. They would be happy to let us impeach rump and enough in the Senate would go along, especially given what Meuller will expose.

But I can't get on board.

Remember that the Senate Impeachment vote requires 2/3 majority to convict. That means we would need 17-18 GOP votes instead of just 2.

Good luck finding that many patriotic republicans. And that is without some of the "reasonable" ones like Corker, Flake and McCain.

It won't happen with what we know now. It should, but it won't.

Unless Mueller has more, I don't see this Senate coming through.

For that matter, even if the Democrats take the Senate, it won't result in conviction. Their simply won't be enough of them.

and there is no way we get that number.

what we can do is censure, which is a simple majority in both chambers.

Joe McCarthy was censured in the Senate. that would be a big deal and get a lot of evidence and information out there.

winning the house puts every committee chairman in our hands, gives us the majority of every committee. Gives us subpoena power and investigative authority and to put any bill on the floor for a vote.

It's a big fucking deal and it is well within each.

A perfect storm would have all the democratic senators reelected (a very difficult play) and picking up 2 to 3 republican seats. Its not impossible and a democratic tidal wave of millions of extra voters could make it happen.

Sometimes I think the term "blue wave" is part of a Russia/GOP strategy to push complacency.

You write that Trump "won and built up his Congress, too."

Actually, the Democrats showed a net gain of seats in the House and in the Senate. They just didn't gain enough to take the majority in either chamber.

Usually, when the White House flips from one party to another, the victorious party also gains seats in Congress. For the victorious party to lose seats in both chambers is quite unusual. I think 1960 was the last time it happened before 2016.

The idea of being a part of something like the Blue Wave is energizing to me! Voting out of sheer desperation feels demoralizing to me. That would make me feel more like it's useless to try to change things. But making that Blue Wave materialize is exciting.

Democrats reeling from a devastating election face a daunting task: the 2018 Senate map.

It favors Republicans in a big way. The GOP will be defending just eight seats, while Democrats must fight for 23 — plus another two held by independents who caucus with Democrats.

What’s worse is the fact that many of the seats they must defend are in states won by Republican Donald Trump.

Midterm elections for sitting presidents are historically challenging. Democrats in the Senate are hoping to find some political momentum for 2018 given the difficult playing ground.

Here are 10 Senate seats that could flip, in alphabetical order:

The rest is at the link.

Senate republicans will become fully exposed for many things they are involved in , and it'll be very , very damaging to them , and their getting elected then. I think if enough vote, we have a more than good chance of taking over both the House and the Senate. Its just a matter of time for all their corruption , and crimes , and lies to expose themselves comes out . The House will have more also exposed and voted out of office also. their trump party is in deep , deep trouble. The truth will hurt them badly, and they know its coming.
