I can support a merit based immigration system based on the same criteria that allowed the grandpa of @realDonaldTrump to immigrate to America. He came here as a minor, did not speak English & started as a barber. Like many immigrants, he worked hard & achieved the American Dream

That is why the teenage Drumpf left home in the middle of the night, leaving his mommy a letter. After a few years he tired to get back into Germany but they caught him and tossed him out! "No criminals" is tRump's immigration policy too. I wish Germany did let him back in and he and his future spawn had stayed far away from here.

This has been my same question for two years.
Where’s that a Melania press conference that we were promised then?

It's going to be held just after the one Trump promised us about all the biggest, baddest crap you'd ever want to know about Crooked Hillary. You know, the one he announced during a speech a couple of days before Donald Jr., et al, met with the Russians in Trump Tower to discuss the dirt they had on Clinton.

Most oecd countries use the merit system. Yes, they award points for those most qualified by trades/skills, education, finances, and language ability. This allows the country to help fill shortages in certain sectors of the job market. And to be sure this adds to the brain drain of skilled workers in less developed countries.

But its important to note that these merit based systems are balanced with robust refugee programs. Canada, Sweden, Germany, etc. take in far more of the most desperate, at risk refugees than the US both in real and per capita numbers.

By taking some of the most qualified, these countries can then also take in more of those most in need and devote more resources to them.

as you say makes room for humanitarian and asylum refugees...didn't Canada promise to take in 100,000 Syrians? Who, being well screened, and being Syrians, will contribute to the economy, that is a guarantee.

I've been hearing that what may soon break is far worse than what is commonly known or suspected about shitgibbon and his cast of grifters. Could the orange baboon be following in grandpa's footsteps in some way? Particularly with his connections to rather unsavory Russian characters. Possibly something related but far more nefarious than "sporting ladies" in the back room?

It was co-sponsored by 4 Democrats and 4 Republicans.

It passed the Senate by a vote of 68-32.
