No lobbyist junkets, no corporate jet rides, no bundling of contributions, no PACs, no more buying of politicians.

...from a John Nichols article - some group (that I can't recall...) is encouraging caucus goers to propose this:

“to defend democracy from the corrupting effects of undue corporate power by amending the United States Constitution to establish that: 1. Only human beings, not corporations, are endowed with constitutional rights, and 2. Money is not speech, and therefore regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting political speech.”

I'm in Iowa, and I'm going tonight, too.

the give and take that goes with it. We need to represent the ideas of the left. I'm trying to get a couple to go with me tonight. If nothing else, ideas go in the hopper and hopefully rise to the top.

1. Get rid of Corporations as persons.
2. No more corporate welfare.
3. Change tax code to punish companies for outsourcing jobs.
4. Stop the wars and US aggression around the world.
5. Long term population control. Most of our problems have their roots in our shear numbers.
6. A realistic energy policy. Coal as used now is too polluting. Oil is running out, we need to stop burning it. Oil has plenty of other uses. Solar and wind are not robust enough to replace oil, coal or nuclear. (see#5)
7. High speed rail across the country and border to border. Include major cities in Canada.
8. Sanity test for all political offices. No more Sociopaths in political office or as CEO's in Corporations. It is a recognizable dysfunction in a social species. Treat it as such.
(What we are doing now sure is not working)

1. Restore Glass-Steagall Act of 1933.

2. "We the people" does NOT extend to corporate structures that are creatures
of the state. Liberties "endowed by our creator" do not extend to creatures
of the state.

And apply the Constitution without legalistic sophistry that excuses obvious law-breaking as long as you can find an attorney willing to say it's not law-breaking (this goes double for the financial industry).
