William Lacy Clay defeats challenger in MO.
Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) defeated Cori Bush, a liberal challenger backed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and several national progressive groups, according to an Associated Press projection.
With 57 percent of precincts reporting, Clay led by 23 points.
Clay will start the general election a heavy favorite to win the St. Louis-based district, which gave 77 percent of the vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton.
