Should Trump get a pardon?

More and more, it appears that the Congress will have no choice but to impeach. It is apparent that he is too dangerous and too unstable to continue a day longer than necessary.

The question that will need to be addressed is whether or not the new President will pardon him? If it is Mike Pence, he will probably receive a pardon? If he survives his full term and a Democrat is sitting in the White House, will he/she pardon Trump?

His base cannot save him from himself. In the end, he will be the most hated, most corrupt, and most divisive leader in this country's history.

He would deserve no sympathy.

If he weren't president he wouldn't be eligible for even the lowest level of clearance.

Gerald Ford learned the hard way that pardoning a criminal ex-president is bad for one's re-election chances. He was harshly and deservedly criticized for pardoning Nixon, and he attributed his defeat in the 1976 election in part to that decision.

Whether he lasts full term in office or not, after he gets out of office, he should spend the rest of his life in prison. If not on federal charges (pardonable), I'm willing to bet that more than one State AG would like to get their subpoenas on him.

because it will be found out (if Mueller hasn't done so already, and he probably has), saving some extraordinary circumstances, that most of his worst crimes were committed in New York City and were therefore not Federal, but state.

If he is found guilty of Treason (which is a distinct possibility) then any party that pushes for a pardon would NEVER live it down.

We would need 2/3 of the Senate seats and that isn't going to happen. There aren't enough Senate Seats up for election this year.

...you would probably be correct.

Democrats should make them scared to not vote for impeachment and conviction. Every single Republican that votes with this scoundrel should be removed from the Congress. The people have the power to do that.

It might be better to let Trump stay in office until 2020. A Democratic house could expose so many things that Trump has done, but also the GOP Congress that supported him and would continue to support him. There are a number of GOP Senators that are subject to re-election in 2020 - so they would be in an awful position. So many areas where Trump has violated the law, being Putin's poodle, etc., and no impeachment - would be ugly. The Dems would rightly say, while we have the votes in the House, we cannot get the super majority needed in the Senate. I also suspect that the Senate will switch to D as a result of the 2018 election, but a very small majority - which also is good.

Unless there is some way to overturn a corrupted election that is revealed to have been the result of Russian influence, the religious hypocrite Pence would be the POTUS if Trump is impeached prior to 2020, we don't want that. Pence would pardon Trump in a minute because I suspect that holier than thou Pence is also beholden to the Russians, there was a reason that Manifort (sic) picked his sorry ass.

Nope, let Trump stay in office until 2020 - continue to make a fool of himself and our nation, show the nation what the GOP represents and maybe then we can do the two things that are important to making America great again.

(1) Elect a democratic president (the best candidate that we can find). And, even more importantly,
(2) Improve the educational system that resulted in 62 million plus voting for a fool - and I have to assume that is a failure of our educational system (aside from the racists).

(on edit): Post 2020 - for Trump, his family, his supporters - we should shame them.

my thoughts.

Rosenstein in order to fire Mueller. They have to replace Rosenstein so that the next guy up can sit on Mueller's report. If Mueller's report, when finished, goes to deputy AG then the deputy has to decide what to do with it. He can decide to refer to House for impeachment consideration or he can decide to bring charges...and I believe he can decide to do nothing? Or delay decision indefinitely?
