Harsh Truth from Frank Schaeffer, ex-Christian Right leader.

Thirty-seven years after leaving office, Jimmy Carter, 93, still bypasses the wealth and perks that flow so freely to other former presidents. White evangelicals hate this Christian who lives like Jesus and follow a lying pervert as he demolishes American democracy.

But I think you are confusing his father Francis with Frank. Francis was a very conservative and famous author in the Christian community.

wasn't as famous in Christian Right circles as his father, but Frank has taken responsibility for his part in it.

Frank Schaeffer, Former Evangelical Leader, Is A Self-Declared Atheist Who Believes In God
Kimberly Winston Religion News Service Updated Jun 13, 2014

RNS) According to the title of his new book, Frank Schaeffer is an atheist.

But he prays every day. And he goes to church every weekend. Catch him on the right day and he’ll admit he believes in God.

Schaeffer, 62, is comfortable with the confusion. Formerly evangelical royalty — he and his preacher-theologian father, Francis Schaeffer, helped found the religious right — he eschews easy definitions and embraces belief and doubt, certainty and uncertainty, life and all its messiness.

“The fact that I have had a transformative journey has meant one thing,” he said in a telephone interview from his home in western Massachusetts. “I reject labels. The way I identify is as a human being. Life is a journey, not a series of conclusions, and I know that I have changed my mind on things before.”

And how. He’s gone from steeped-in-the-blood Christian to vocal nonbeliever, from Christian conservative to liberal Democrat, from Hollywood director to novelist, from angry young man to slightly less angry older man — chronicled in two best-sellers, “Crazy for God” and “Sex, Mom & God.”

I BELIEVE you're referencing the Mohandas K. Gandhi quote:

"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

that is build around worship. Maybe many other paths such as unreasoned following of a credo that doesn't permit evidence-based analysis.

It's a real pity that Jesus's message was purposefully corrupted by the various factions/cults to suit their power/money-hungry appetites.

Same for the other Abrahamic and many other cults. Only the high priests know the true sauce and the rest of you be damned, after giving us your life and money.

I've used that very quote often, don't know where I came up with Buddha!! Gandhi is also quoted as saying, "I'd probably be a Christian, if not for Christians." Both are SO spot on! I'm from a Southern Baptist family, and I kicked that early on--about the time I figured out about Santa Claus!

The so called Christian right are simply a bunch of hypocrites and pan handlers, and don't even police themselves from preying on others...all they have to do is have a bible and soapbox, and then they can falsely claim just about anything, based upon NO evidence, no license, nothing...

Scum, all of them. Talk about fake...

IME need to slowly read and meditate on the 4 Gospels where what Jesus taught actually is. President Carter certainly has done so and has always done the best he can to live a life that reflects his answer to 'WWJD'.

They are total opposites, one is Godly and good and caring and devotes his life to helping others and one is destructive mean and vindictive and devotes his life to criminality and treason for personal profit. One makes ordinary peoples lives better, one destroys everything his flacid orange tiny fingers touch. One is an American treasure and one is working with PUtin to destroy America for personal gain.
