“Only the best people...”

Is George taking advice from his wife? She seems kind of nutty to me.

He deserves whatever he gets. Times ten. That pisses me off. The arrogance.

Who's paying for it? He's obviously stupid enough to be manipulated. Russians? Wife? Someone who wants to disrupt the Mueller investigation?

Again, who's paying for it?

That's what Charles Colson was assigned when he pleaded to avoid prosecution in Watergate. He said later that he learned humility washing the dirty underwear of prisoners.

Why on earth would he screw that up?! And then screw himself in the process. He's already 'fessed up to everything a year ago. I really can't figure this. The ladies in his life must have this wrong. I mean, why pay a lawyer/s only to go to jail for longer. Mueller is not a man he should want to cross. This whole thing is weird.

The prodding women and the no-time/lo-time sentence have emboldened him; he thinks he can re-open the deal and skate. Or at least dodge the bullet that's coming toward him.

Requires the approval of a judge. If he does so, Mueller needs to throw the book of them.

I didn't practice in Federal Court, but in state court you can't just unilaterally withdraw from a plea. In Arizona, once the plea is accepted by the court, you have to show that it would amount to a manifest injustice (extremely hard to show) if you were not allowed to withdraw.

The usual reason people want to withdraw their plea is nothing more than buyer's remorse.

His wife and mom have been influenced by the rightwing "Deep State" conspiracy peddlers of Fox News etc. and are pushing the notion of unfair entrapment which doesn't help him with perjury charges.
