The Carter's of Plains, Georgia: Something is in my eyes.

Carter has used his post-presidency to support human rights, global health programs and
fair elections worldwide through his Carter Center, based in Atlanta. He has helped renovate
4,300 homes in 14 countries for Habitat for Humanity, and with his own hammer and tool
belt, he will be working on homes for low-income people in Indiana later this month.

On this summer morning, Rosalynn mixes pancake batter and sprinkles in blueberries grown on their land.

Carter cooks them on the griddle.

Then he does the dishes.

The Carters are the only presidential couple I have ever met, but that's quite enough.

I stayed in the exact room he and Rosalynn stayed in when they were having some renovations done to their house. You want a fun vacation that forces you to slow down? Go spend a couple of days in Plains. I loved it.

At all. His message was beautiful. It was very special for me. They both stood out front of the church after service and took pictures with anyone who wanted one. Such wonderful people.

I was inspired by NCTraveler's previous account of his visit to Plains and made my own pilgrimage last year. Be sure to visit the National Park Service Historic Site at Jimmy and Rosalyn's old high school, and Koinonia Farm in Americus while you're there. It was a fantastic experience, truly something I will never forget.

and no pretense. I love them.
Good to see the WP joining places like DU in terms of giving them their due.
Had the US listened to Carter's famous 'malaise' speech, things would have turned out differently.

Compared to the soul-less creature who is everything evil all wrapped up in one repulsive thing/man/whatever you want you call it who is presently squatting in the White House.
This article brought me to tears. Good/Bad....Beautiful/Ugly...Carter/Trump?
My God.
What a stark contrast.

Although the Carters have taken their modesty to unprecedented levels, the Obamas seem like real people who have made extraordinary accomplishments. Likewise Bill & Hill Clinton.

He installed solar panels on the white house roof and did not sell weapons to Iran or finance the Contras in Nicaragua.

If he was a "weak president" then lets elect more "weak presidents" like Carter instead of dangerous dipshits like Reagan, Bush, or Trump.
